Word is starting to leak out that TRUMP IS CONSIDERING LAUNCHING A THIRD PARTYI believe that will be a mistake. Such a move would only hurt his (or any Republican’s) chances of being elected. I think any third party can only be effective to the point it helps shape the narrative but, will not prevail in most elections. What are your thoughts?

So, is this a Teddy Roosevelt like deal? Definitely remains to be seen: Only rumor at this point, but Trump doesn’t exactly inspire Teddy-like reminisces, does he?

An absolute catastrophe. A Trump third party will split the conservative vote and ensure Democrats win every major election until either the new party or the GOP disappear. That's been the history of third parties in this country for over a hundred years.
In 1912, Teddy Roosevelt's conservative Progressive party split 7 1/2 million votes with the GOP, allowing Democrati Woodrow Wilson to win with 41% of the vote. Wilson got 435 electoral votes to 88 for Roosevelt.
In 1924, a leftist Progressive party split the Democratic vote, so Republican Calvin Coolidge won the electoral college 382 to 136.
In 1948, the racist Dixiecrat party under Strom Thurmond split the conservative vote and allowed Democrat Harry Truman to win 303 to 189 with less tha 50% of the popular vote.
In 1960, the right-wing Southern Democrats siphoned enough votes from Richard Nixon to allow Democrat John Kennedy to squeak out a narrow win.
In 1992, Ross Perot's independent conservative presidential campaign ensured Bill Clinton's sweeping win over George Bush, with only 43% of the vote.
In 1996, Perot did it again, allowing Clinton to win reelection with less than 50% of the vote.

MD, I’m with you, but didn’t Trump already knock out some RINO votes anyways?

He would be better served to build resistance within the existing party... I’m just not sure his ego could handle that.

Frog, yes, but a third party would still siphon off millions of GOP voters. We live in a winner-take-all election system, so either the left or the right splitting their vote into two parties guarantees victory for the other side.

Maybe he should become a democrat and use his 71 million voters to reform those guys... 🤔

He would be better served to build resistance within the existing party... I’m just not sure his ego could handle that.Exactly. That's what I've been saying for five years, and that's why we lost the Senate. Think about it. Trump's reactions are always the same. When things go his way or he scores a win, he has to brag that it was the biggest, or the best, or the greatest, or the longest, or the fastest win in history. When things don't go his way or he suffers a loss, his reaction is always to blame the left, or Russia, or China, or the media, or fake news, or Hillary Clinton, or Nancy Pelosi, or Mike Pence, or any member of his cabinet or inner circle, or anyone on the planet other than himself.

I don’t remember anything about Georgia, but I DO recall some senators asking him to NOT help them. But, overall, his ego is a stumbling block as you say.
