This has been a long time wet dream of fervent fans, but it's selfish. Even if the money were available (which I doubt), we can't ask high school kids to miss two days of school every other week to travel across the country just to placate those fans. It imposes too much of an academic burden for them to have to make up in some way. Besides, why do we need a "true national champion" at the high school level? We had poll champions in college football for over a century and weren't any worse off than we are now. More likely less of a national championship issue than a competition one. We're nowhere near your and Bosco level, and had a helluva time filling out schedule with anyone local. I can imagine it's even worse for you guys. My guess is that with this large and growing talent gap, it won't be long before your colleague in the Trinity League will want out, and you'll be playing a national schedule by default. Why not get ahead of it?

Because it's not feasible. The cost in terms of money and academic time lost is an absolute nonstarter. You're more likely to see local club football during the regular high school season than you are a national schedule. It's already happening in other sports.

Money talks, so geography, tradition and loyalty don't matter anymore. That's why Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Bryson de Champbeau all joined this silly new Saudi Arabian golf tour. I imagine the Dodgers would leave MLB and join the Premier Soccer League in Britain, or Formula 1 racing, if it meant making more money.

I can think of a few high schools that get mad when people say the same thing.... The difference is that UCLA has all those transfers and still can't win shit. Trivia question: Can anyone remember the first high school in SoCal that was widely referred to as Transfer U?

No, in the mid- to late-1970's, when they were one of the top programs in Southern California, Edison was widely referred to as Transfer U. They had the uncanny fortune a half century ago to somehow fill key graduating spots with excellent players from other schools. Sound familiar?
