Ugh that looks ugly Bill and not sure why its in NCAA Football thread..... that said just was watching the Buckeyes - Badgers and C.J. Stroud looks phenomenal.

I am not sure why I did that either, goof. But it was in response to MD Dad saying that Edison used to be called Transfer U. I looked up their standings in the Sunset.

Yeah, billb, watch out for us Trinity League guys pointing fingers at past history that actually happened. Some people have short memories, and they don't remember the Edison program of the late 1970's, or even how the Mission Viejo and Orange Lutheran programs were built in the early 2000's, long before St. John Bosco and Mater Dei ever thought about becoming what they are today. I think that's what they call an inconvenient truth.

No, in the mid- to late-1970's, when they were one of the top programs in Southern California, Edison was widely referred to as Transfer U. They had the uncanny fortune a half century ago to somehow fill key graduating spots with excellent players from other schools. Sound familiar? Like Sean Dollars, Miller Moss, and Raleek Brown? |

I referenced Edison as a way of illustrating that this crap has been going on for well over 40 years and wasn't invented by Bosco or Mater Dei in the last six or seven. With respect, your catty calling out those three recent players adds nothing to that discussion.

The point is that what was ethically sketchy 40 years ago at Edison and 20 years ago at MV and OLu is no less sketchy today. There is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9) The claim that "we didn't invent the practice" isn't a defense, but a rationalization. Thank you for acknowledging what's been going on at both Bosco and Mater Dei for some time now. I'll be the first to call out my school when I think we have lost our way. I hope others might be willing to do the same. |

I heard today the Big 10 might add some more teams. When asked about the travel time UCLA and USC players would make to Ohio etc, they suggested that they may add a couple more west coast teams. I think, perhaps Oregon and Washington. So what will the PAC be down to, PAC-8? I was looking for the story and could not find that online. Plus, who will the PAC-12 find to replace USC and UCLA? San Diego? Fresno?  |

SK mentioned the TCU game in the General threat, but yah, it was a blowout. I told my brother it reminded me of some high school games. So here is the question? Who should have played Georgia? Tennessee? Same conference? How about Michigan?
