Bick, stop whining. If you had been willing to pay DeAndre Moore's rent and give him a load of NIL money, you could have kept him and had two targets yesterday.

True, but unless DeAndre recently turned into a front 7 guy, the Hansen's were a bigger loss yesterday.

Transfer a week before fall camp after a semester of being enrolled at school and taking reps during spring and summer from kids who could've used them?

To many parents, (and I'm being very careful here to not describe the exact kinds of parents I'm talking about) high schools have become nothing more than RV rental spots. They don't care about education, continuity, loyalty, stability, perseverance, friendships or any other benefits from the high school years. Their only barometer of success for their sons is to make it to the NFL, and when the 99.9% odds that are stacked against their sons hit home, they can't figure out why or what to do next. It's an absolute tragedy.

You mean some parents may already be using their kids as a meal ticket?

Too many parents, (and I'm being very careful here to not describe the exact kinds of parents I'm talking about) high schools have become nothing more than RV rental spots. Thank you for not broad brushing here.....

I've heard this a half dozen times over the years, and I think it's more true now than ever before:
If many of these parents took half the money they spend on club ball, travel ball, traveling to camps and combines, personalized coaching and special equipment, and put it towards academic tutoring and preparation; and if their sons took half the hours and effort they put into athletics and instead put it into academics; then every one of them would receive a partial or full academic scholarship, and could graduate from college with a meaningful career degree that would set them up for life. It's just not as glamorous or sexy, so it's rarely considered as an alternative. Unfortunately, there's rarely a Plan B if the NFL doesn't pan out.

It's just not as glamorous or sexy, so it's rarely considered as an alternative. Unfortunately, there's rarely a Plan B if the NFL doesn't pan out. Gospel. Although the sad reality is that most parents don’t subscribe to this logic. My son has played club baseball since he was 9 years old. I have spent plenty of money just for him to play, but I have not spent one penny on private coaches or sending him to showcases. I think they are nothing but money grabs. My son is starting his junior year and just took the SAT this past Saturday. This Summer, instead of working and playing for a travel team, he played baseball locally and studied for the SAT. I was more than happy to send him to a SAT prep course this Summer because I believe that money is an actual investment in his future. Even though he could play college baseball at mid level programs, that is not in his future plans. He is an outstanding student and is going to make a 40-year life decision not based on an athletic pipe dream.

Your son is a lucky kid to have a thoughtful dad.

Sunset league is off to its best start in a very long time. Looking like the best public school league top to bottom this year.
Edison with a decisive win over OLu, and Newport hanging to the very end against JSerra says a lot.

Nice preleague start for the Sunset.
24-6, and Los Al is the worst of the bunch at 3-2.
I think this is the year FV takes down HB.
If Los Al runs the table in league, it'll be the first time since Anaheim in the 50's that a Sunset team ran the table 3 straight years.

But in all fairness, those Anaheim teams ran the table 4 straight years, so you still have some work to do next year.

That's true. If we run it next year also, we might roll off 6 straight. Got some awfully good freshmen getting significant PT this season.
