Perhaps you read about Rep. Ilhan Omar's recent remarks about the 9/11 terrorist attacks: "Some people did something." AOC defends her and says criticism of Omar is "an incitement to violence." This is tantamount to Soviet-style tactics and a movement to socially outlaw free speech if it is critical of the Left. There are really no words to adequately describe these two.
And this doesn't even address her repeated anti-Semitic remarks.

Here's AOC's "incitement to violence" comment:

AOC uses the Holocaust to defend an anti-Semite. You can't make this stuff up.

Credo - do you have her entire, unedited remarks? This has the look and feel of what too often gets done to slam one side or another for political gain.
While you or I may not like her, I think we do ourselves a disservice to take quotes out of context.

She later stated that she was confused about when CAIR was founded, which was 1994, and that she had the date wrong. The problem with her explanation is that she was trying to tie CAIR's founding to a supposed backlash against muslims. She had a narrative and was attempting to backfill facts that would support the narrative, hence she just made the crap up.
The movie "True Lies" had more to do with CAIR's founding than any backlash by the public. The founders hated that Arnold made muslims the bad guys in one of his films.

I thought the outrage was over her saying in reference to 9/11 that"some people did something", only leaving out the rest of the sentence?
In the context of her entire sentence, I didn't interpret she was trivializing 9/11.

I disagree. Even the full sentence trivializes 9/11.

I agree with the professor. She was downplaying the murder of 3000 innocent civilians to "some people did something" in order to draw the focus to what she claims is the real problem - all Muslims are treated badly. To her, September 11th was not that important, rather her perception of how it affected Muslims was.
A analogy that has a side benefit of making you smile would be from Caddyshack, when Al Czervik drops his yachts anchor through Judge Smallings boat, destroying it. Al (Rodney Dangerfield) looks at the judge & says "Hey, you scratched my anchor!"

Just I'm clear, are you both saying you believe Omar thinks 9/11 was a trivial matter?

Yes, it was trivial to her EXCEPT for how Muslims were affected.

Not trivial, but not something that affects her personally. She has no emotional attachment to it, for it was an attack on a country she was not born into. She considers herself Somalian, being a US citizen was just a process she went through to enable her to do & get certain things.
Her view of September 11th would be the same as a Chinese citizen born in the 1920's reaction to Pearl Harbor. Some people who kind of look like her did something to the United States.

OK fellas. We'll just have to agree to disagree about this one. It reminds me of the outrage caused by the absence of the full scope of what was said or depicted by:
Covington Boys - CNN video / photos failed to show the Indian activist walking up on the boys
Trump (Charlotesville)- "there were fine people..."
Candace Owens Hitler remarks played by Ted Lieu.

She was definitely downplaying 9/11 by referring to it as "some people did something." The full context does nothing to help her case.
Who were those people, Ms. Omar? And what did they do? And what was their motivation?
Never in a million years would she honestly answer those questions.

OK, somebody has to say it. It may lower the level of discourse on this forum, but Ilhan Omar is a piece of crap.
