Why’d Mission back out?...............Luca Probably because JSerra got 20 or 30 of the transfers Chad Johnson thought HE was going to get.

Just got off the phone with AD who called me from the pool in Hawaii, and said schedules are due by May 1, MV never had JS on the schedule and it has been set since May 1.

SJB / DeMatha...TD? This was a great angle on the play for a side judge or head linesman. Assuming the whistle hadn't been blown, does forward progress negate what happens prior to the whistle?

I'm thinking forward progress would have had the refs spot the ball on the one, IF he had held on to the ball...but he didn't. The whistle blowing before the fumble seems like the only way this call could be considered correct.

The call depends on how quickly you want to blow the whistle when forward progress is stopped. If he were simply stood up or trying to escape the grasp it would clearly have been a fumble but he was being driven backwards.
The fact that he was driven backwards into the end zone to me means the referee had to blow a quick whistle or else - even had he held onto the ball - you would have had to call it a safety, which would clearly be incorrect. Correct call..................................Luca

The crazy thing about the Narbonne frosh situation is that when the team showed up to play Narbonne, the Narbonne team was there practicing but didn't know they even were supposed to have a game vs. JSerra. With the AD, Head Coach and Principal all on administrative leave, I'm not surprised it's a mess. Meanwhile, the JSerra frosh team is now down two games since Mission Viejo also backed out of their game. What are you possibly talking about? Mission Viejo was never scheduled to play JSerra

"Just got off the phone with AD who called me from the pool in Hawaii, and said schedules are due by May 1, MV never had JS on the schedule and it has been set since May 1." "What are you possibly talking about? Mission Viejo was never scheduled to play JSerra" First of all, freshman games are scheduled after May 1 all the time. Second, why would JSerra just put a fake Mission game on their freshman schedule that they posted on their website? www.jserrafootball.net/scheduleWhy the hell would I just make this up? There are "insiders" on both sides.

Error by JSerra. Mission freshman and JV will be playing Upland on 9/26 and varsity on 9/27.
