Scott Meyer really tearing it up at my alma mater, Lakewood, the first 2 games of his career there. Good News for Bicks Alma Mater: with this weeks opponent #618 Ca. State ranked Pomona in the schedule you and coach Meyer can right the ship! Bad News for Bick’s Alma Mater: September 13th @ CDM. Abandon Ship !! Gotta believe O’ Shea throws Meyer a short rope.....!!

Lakewood has scored about 13 points in two games and allowed 90 something one of the teams was Mayfair...so hopefully ones go first Q and series, no need to work ones...bring the freshmen...

Reality check for the Friars last night, taking a 42-21 loss at Bishop Gorman. I had a sense expectations were too high for such a young team. Was only able to watch the 2nd half live, but saw clips of the 1st half scoring plays. A few observations: - Bishop Gorman is still enormously talented on offense, with multiple big-play threats.
- Weird game in that 8 out the 9 TD's scored in the game were 50+ yards.
- Noah Fifita can sling the ball; with a decent running game the Friars will be dangerous in the next couple of years if we can add some other threats to offset the attention that defenses will have to devote to Tetairoa McMillan.
- Where is the running game? I didn't see a single running play in the 2nd half--which may have simply been a function of being down three TD's. But geez, you gotta keep the defense honest.

Credo, good analysis. My thoughts:
1. Servite’s running game in the first half was completely non existent. There was simply nothing there and I think that’s why running was completely abandoned. Multiple run plays witn zero or 1 yard gains. I saw this before witn Servite. There are simply no real threats in that backfield and no one that makes people miss. The best athletes are all at receiver. Having one of them at RB occasionally wouldn’t be a bad idea.
2. Gorman is not as down as people thought. That’s still a big boy football team with dangerous athletes. I see them as top 25-30 nationally.
3. Way too many dropped balls for the receivers. At least 8 balls that clearly should have been caught. They still would have lost but drops killed 3-4 drives.
4. Servite’s defense is undersized and it will be a problem against power teams. They could not stop a basic counter run will pulling lineman and it gashed them for 2 long runs and multiple first downs. I don’t know the fix but I do know teams with some beef will be doing that to Servite going forward.
5. Servite is young and I did not expect them to win. They played ok but not their best as there was a lot of sloppiness. I thought if Servite played their A game then maybe it’s a 10-14 game against Gorman at this point.
6. I see this loss as a blessing in disguise. I am truly rooting for Servite to stay out of the top 8 and they were lurking there at 9/10. A 6-4 record and 4th place trinity league placement should land them in D2 where they could potentially win a playoff game or 2. That would be great experience for a young team to get versus playing over their head and somehow getting a #8 ranking only to lose by 50 in a hopelessly overmatched game in round one of D1.

Gorman should have been playing Bosco and Servite should have played Liberty.
Too bad Gorman was scared.

Gorman should have been playing Bosco and Servite should have played Liberty. Too bad Gorman was scared. Yes, those would have been better games. Gorman is still the #1 program in their state, but clearly not on Bosco's level--like every other team in the nation save for Mater Dei. I think the issue is more that they have nothing to gain by losing by 21 points to Bosco. When they had Tate Martell and were vying for a National Championship it made sense for them to come out to California a play Bosco, which they did.

That's been a problem for a few years now, as we haven't had a legitimate threat at RB since Tate Beachley '15. The offensive play calling has been a head-scratcher in that same period: too many draw plays up the middle for zero yards, putting the QB's in too many 3rd-and-10 situations. That's not a formula for consistent ball control football. We'll see how things develop but I'd like to see a semblance of an offensive identity, something that has been sorely lacking for about four seasons.

so um yeah, anybody see that tweet from Chad Johnson yesterday?? How do you post screenshots here?
He's pissed and is ready to sit down with the CIF to go on record.
Sort of wondering if he was hacked.
