I just hope Mater Dei and Bosco have the confidence to let the next kid currently in line in their respective programs step up to start at QB next year. Really, Credo? Ever read a passage in some obscure book about removing a log in your own eye?

Played out And yet it is still true. If Mater Dei and Bosco don't go outside their program to pick up a 4-star QB prospect I will be the first to eat crow when proven to be wrong.

Do you mean like Servite did with that McKibbin kid? I was waiting for that. You all know the McKibbin situation was not anything like the case with those schools that went shopping to upgrade their QB situation with someone else's starter. During the 2017 season we had two very good QBs who had come to Servite as freshmen---T.J. McMahon was a senior and Caden Bell was a junior. They were essentially 1a and 1b on the depth chart. McMahon was the starter throughout the year largely due to having more experience and by virtue of being a senior. Had Caden Bell started that year the dropoff would not have been huge--and he played very well late in a number of games. Caden Bell was the starting QB in waiting for the 2018 season. Then came January 2018, when our three best defensive players bolted for St. John Bosco, Caden Bell left for JSerra, and Scott Meyer quit as head coach. Since Bell played most of the JV reps during that season there was no one to play QB for the upcoming year. I suppose we could have thrown in Noah Fifita as a freshman but that's a big ask for Trinity League play. Blaze McKibbin was no 4-star prospect; he had lost his starting job at Gardena Serra and had never even started a game for Westlake. With all due respect to the kid this was duct tape and bailing wire on a faltering engine, and I still had my own misgivings about that move. You can call hypocrisy all you want---there is no way you can compare the these situations.

WTF are we still comparing in any form? It is all obvious how these programs work, can not believe yet still those followers of those programs are still on the defense.... It is what it F'n is. Move along people move along.

Do you mean like Servite did... ? . With all due respect to the kid this was duct tape and bailing wire on a faltering engine, and I still had my own misgivings about that move. I wasn't going to say anything, out of respect for the kid who came in, but yes...very, very good analogy for what happened after Caden Bell deserted his Friar teammates. Ordinarily I don't think the kid gets accepted at Servite, and I had lobbied, at the time, for making Damien Moun (who, at the time had not played football at all at Servite) our QB. Had Servite listened to me, Servite would have, IMHO, actually done better in 2018. The QB we did go with, only had TWO good games (vs. Roosevelt and SMCHS) where his QB ratings were 93.8 and 114.8 respectively. He had three fair games (vs. Bakersfield, Norco, and VP), where his QB ratings were 81.1, 72.9, and 76.9 respectively. But he had FOUR bad games (QB ratings from 37.4 to 65.2). He had a grand total of ONLY 4 TDs the entire season, the first of which didn't happen until the 4th game, (and that one was a pass into the left flat, where Z. Centers broke several tackles to score a long TD). I also didn't want to go with Fifita as a freshman, out of concern for Noah. Junior D. Moun, who had some QB experience, would have been a better way to go IMHO.

JSerra adding Rob Johnson and Sam Baker as co-offensive coordinators. Great hires.
