Mater Dei over La Habra for the championship of the Scandrick tournament. Cathedral (lost to MD) and Los Alamitos (lost to La Habra) were the other semifinalists. I understand SJ Bosco lost to Defending State Bowl II-AA Champion Grace Bretheran.

Mater Dei over La Habra for the championship of the Scandrick tournament. Cathedral(lost to MD) and Narbonne (lost to La Habra) were the other semifinalists. I understand SJ Bosco lost to Defending State Bowl II-AA Champion Grace Bretheran. Los Al was the other semi finalist. La Habra beat Narbonne in the quarters on a pretty darn spectacular grab by Clark Phillips on the final play. Phillips also made a nice grab right near the end to help La Habra beat Los Al 27-26. Lots of jawing between Narbonne and LA Habra. Mostly started by Narbonne.

Wow! That WAS a great catch.
Thanks for correcting my info on the semifinalists. I edited my post to show Los Alamitos.

LH QB Zanelli was making nice throws in both Narbonne and Los Al games.
Geez Narbonne was mouthy.

MD also won the linemen competition. as far as the 7 on 7, the "Young" Guns stepped up. Mater Dei's lineman won the "Men in the Trenches" competition put on by Jesse Sapolu. Gardena Serra was 2nd, and Tesoro was 3rd. Tesoro beat Corona Centennial in round 1, O Lu in round 2 and Servite in round 3. I don't know any more than that, which came from Tesoro's Twitter. Was there also another lineman competition at the Orlando Scandrick/Los Alamitos event?

Clark Phillips, the DB/WR at La Habra will be announcing where he's headed next year really soon.
I saw him up close at the Scandrick tourney, while he was getting jawed at pretty good by the Narbonne kids. He shut them up pretty good with his play. I didn't stay for the final game against MD, but assume he continued to play at a high level. He seemed to be running out of gas a bit against us (Los Al) in the semis, but still made the game winning catch in the back of the EZ.
He's a good one to put on the radar in the Edison tourney

There's a bit more activity now, so I thought this would be a good spot for the past tourneys, and upcoming annual Battle at the Beach.
Understand MD will be without Bryce Young, and LH is missing Clark Phillips. My 2 cents is LH gets torpedoed with this development. WITH him at the Scandrick tourney in May, LH lost in the finals to MD by a score or 2.

Mater Dei will be without #1 QB Bryce Young and #2 QB Skye Selinsky. They will likely start an incoming freshman. Bosco will also be without D.J. Uiagalelei, so it should be an interesting day.

There was a really good 7v7 team this year that included 4-5 kids I'm familiar with.
Bryce Young John Humphreys Justin Flowe Gio Deleon Clark Phillips
Anyone know who else was on that team and how they did?
