OCVarsity gets out their first stat sheets for the "season" as opposed to the week. The Orange County football season stat leaders through the Week 3 games. (Leaderboards are based on season stats available each Monday morning.) PASSING: TOP 10 OC NAME, SCHOOL YDS CMP-ATT TD Garbers, Corona del Mar 1376 86-131 20 Young, Mater Dei 1272 86-117 14 Kyckelhahn, Aliso Niguel 1187 75- 118 14 Hourigan, Canyon 1026 67-143 9 Del Toro, Western 936 77-120 8 Jones, San Juan Hills 936 71-105 7 Lindgren, Tesoro 839 62-95 15 Moss, Irvine 766 65-113 8 Vega, Segerstrom 760 38-56 13 Cowens, Pacifica 695 34-62 7
Just like last year, no one seems to be producing any stats for Servite. In only 3 games, Noah Fifita has 12 TD passes and only one tipped interception, I think, and has passed for 900+ yards. His completion percentage, is poor, but he can hit that long bomb, and has. At least 5 of his 12 TD passes have been 50 yards or longer.

The Fifita kid can throw it. The challenge at 5'9" right now is vision behind the offensive line.

His completion percentage, is poor, but he can hit that long bomb, and has. At least 5 of his 12 TD passes have been 50 yards or longer. Why the heck is that...., and this is @bick as well on his Griffins...... WHY NO STATS? Is it some "No I in team" notion? No single player gets a mention? Could it be no coach wants numbers out there for opposing teams to analyze? As in "SHHHHHHH" don't want the other guys to know if we are a passing or running team! Also in this same wheelhouse of questioning..... MDDad...., I'm an official scorer at MaxPreps and do so for every CDM game I can make. At the MD-SF game I had people sending me texts before the game saying nobody is signed up as the teams official scorer. WHAT! Say what you will about HS Sports sites like MP but do you realize how many viewers are following these games? Here is a screen shot I took on my phone at end of Q3 Saturday night. I had already over 44K views. Putting that into perspective a normal high school game may bet 1K. A feature game or area top teams 2-3K and rivalry or playoff games 5-6K maybe. SO how can MD not have a scorer.... it doesn't even have to be "blessed" by the school, any fan can apply and do the reporting/score tracker. Here is how it appears on MaxPrep..., even the guys from Maryland had a reporter! www.maxpreps.com/games/9-14-2019/football-fall-19/mater-dei-vs-st-frances-academy.htm?c=8GIPknAjjUy_a88Mn6UKiA#tab=scoretrkr&schoolid=So whats all your takes on this......? Beyond curious.

I think it's a little of both SK80. Why help your opponent scout you, AND team first. Might also be not important enough to find someone in the program who wants to track and post the stats.
I know I appreciate seeing them as it gives me something to talk about, but frankly, I would settle for an accurate roster from Maxpreps. In the Poly game, 3 skill guys active in the game, including the starting RB, weren't on the roster. But as bad as that game was, maybe they just preferred being anonymous.

Thats what I deducted in a nut shell but come on..., in an age of video and social media like hiding team stats from a game is going to give one an edge? And how unfortunate that a kid like the Servite QB could be among the best in county yet is omitted from the sports pages because his coaches don't turn in stats?
Sorry, but that s*cks.
I ran track in high school and yes I have a lot of memories and medals to carry on..., and no I did not make the Olympics but my newspaper clippings (equivalent of todays web) of my winning events, times etc are pretty damn sweet to me to have to this day. Wonder what Fifita thinks about not having his name up there with some of the best in the nation, surely whereever he ends up one day showing his kids and grandkids the stat columns and game sheets of what he accomplished would be something cherished. And there is nobody whom carries the banner of "TEAM not "I" than I! This is not that.

Bryce is a special person and football player. Cant help but root for him. I've always said he could do more with less. Throw him on JSERRA and I feel like they are the best team in the nation.
I selfishly hope he stays a Trojan, but to be honest, they don't deserve him. He belongs on the biggest stage. Bama makes sense. I would LOVE to see him play for Lincoln Riley. That would be special

WHAT!...SO how can MD not have a scorer... it doesn't even have to be "blessed" by the school, any fan can apply and do the reporting/score tracker. SK, you're mistaken on this. Mater Dei has an official scorer/stat crew, and they have done that job for well over 20 years. In fact, they are the same crew that does the scoring/stats for USC and LA Rams games. If they weren't at the St. Frances game, it was because they had a schedule conflict. When that happens, Mike and his crew determine the stats a few days later from the game films, which is routinely done for stats confirmation anyway. I haven't spoken to Mike this week, but I'd imagine last Saturday he and his crew were at the USC-BYU game. As you can see at the link below, the St. Frances game stats are posted on Maxpreps the same as always. www.maxpreps.com/games/9-14-2019/football-fall-19/mater-dei-vs-st-frances-academy.htm?c=8GIPknAjjUy_a88Mn6UKiA#tab=box-score&schoolid=

I'm not sure his kids and grandkids will really care about his "stat columns and game sheets of what he accomplished" in high school. That would really be kind of Al Bundy of him.

MDDad yes MD puts in the stats, that is half/part of my pointing out.... i was speaking of MD in the sense no one does "SCORETRACKER or "LIVE" report during theme. I find that odd...... is that by design?

That would be special Bryce would make any team better, but Jserra would hardly be the best team in the nation. Not with their WRs, or their Secondary. Bryce makes up for a lot, but in JSerra case, no way would they would beat St. Frances .. shoot there gonna be in a battle with Servite for third spot in league.

No disrespect to those putting up big numbers but yes a 3.9 or 4.5 SOS reflects on those numbers. We did all this a couple seasons with Chase and JT as well.... every time Chase had the numbers it was shot down on SOS. Interesting yes, valid in many degrees yet not conclusive either. I used the college or NCAA analogy many times before. Lets see what the numbers or success would be behind equivalent lines or equivalent depth. Also of note, the better teams up on this list winning many of their games by big numbers usually rest their QB for sometimes an entire half. Smaller schools not so much. The Western kid ended up on top last year mainly because he played every game all 4 quarters.
