Interesting info i was reminded this morning by a upperclassman..., Cajon beat CDM in a opening round CIF class AAA playoff game 21-7 in 1976 (I was a freshman!)
"By PAUL OBERJUERGE Sun-Telegram Sports Writer NEWPORT BEACH:
Chuck Petterson came to a conclusion Friday on a dank, clammy night in Newport Beach. "If our offense can have an offnight like tonight, and we can still beat the kind of team like Corona del Mar at their place by two touchdowns, we have the ability to be a championship team." That was the Cajon High School coach's reaction to a game in which the Cowboys struggled to just 130 yards of total offense but still advanced to the second round of the Class AAA playoffs by stopping Corona del Mar, 21-7. Credit for the win has to go to the Cowboys' defense, which completely shut off the Sea Kings' ground game, and the senior fullback Kevin Pajne, whose daring 53-yard punt return for a touchdown kept Cajon close in the first half. "Our defense did a great Job." Petterson admitted. "Tom Hall (linebacker) was tremendous, so were our tackles, Curtis Norris and Bill McCarty."

Nope... Haven't seen enough of you CDM guys this year. Hope you "get one of these", and win state. Same with Newport. Good times at Davidson... Just fix the damn windows to make the pressbox usuable by the time we come back there in 2 years. It ain't that hard... Just have them open up, instead of sliding to the side.

You will have to take that up with Sailor management. According to them it's THEIR field!

You use it too. Might be a good opportunity to bury the anchor between you Ocean types if you kicked in a few Benjis to get it fixed.

So extend the seaweed of friendship. First one to do so today would be considered a pc pansy and that may be OK but not so much on the football field...! I do remember a time in dwindling enrollment that the two schools considered joining or combining. Could you image the athletic department!

Very entertaining game at Mission last night...the best I've seen this season. Both offenses were unstoppable in Q4. Fifita was making some unreal throws. Looked like Centers got dinged with a hammy after a long catch and run late Q3, and didn't see him return. Nice season for the Friens. Really turned it around, and will be right up there again with all that returning talent. FOX Sports West sure televised the right game. Great battle that Servite could have won, had we just stopped MV once in the 4th qtr. Servite offense stuck in the mud in the 1st half; couldn't be stopped by MV in the 2nd half. That Pass Interference on 4th-and-goal from the 2-yard-line with the score 17-13 in the 3rd qtr confused everybody in the stands, who thought it was an automatic 1st down--even the scoreboard indicated 1st down. When MV took over on downs after the next play and went 99 yards to up two scores, we could never get in a position to take the lead. Credit to Mission Viejo for making just enough crucial conversion on 3rd downs to maintain their lead. Great pre-game atmosphere at MVHS; one of the best I've witnessed in 10 years. Their marching band was in full force before the Diablos took the field (something we don't have in most Catholic schools). While Servite will look back on how we let MV off the hook, the only consolation is that either team that won is just fodder for at least a 35-point thrashing by Mater Dei. I heard that in 57 years of the Servite-Mater Dei rivalry, they've never met in the playoffs. If true, that alone would have been worth the extra week. MV passing game was unimpressive; except for the 50-yard completion in the 4th, they were held in check by Servite. Peter Costelli's best weapon on Friday were his legs; I had no idea how fast he was, and his QB keepers when they needed to move the chains were back-breakers. Don't see him doing that as successfully against Mater Dei. That game may be ugly.

I used to have that channel once, but now my cable company doesn't offer it in my area. So while I got to watch the MD game, the SJB game, the Poly game, and the J Serra game, I couldn't watch Servite. So I got my updates from Servite football Twitter. Twitter mentioned 13 different Friars (making an impact on the game) by name. Only five of those names were seniors. In fact, Servite will return eight defensive starters and seven offensive starters. Bright future for the Friars.

Although in Trinity with the re-load transfer variance a lot can or could change among those teams. By looking at this season Servite has well positioned themselves to be next team up against the "Big Two", something that JSerra was trying to lay claim but obviously now has failed.
I applaud this years Friar squad for a great season, exciting games and returning to relevence in what is a tough environment trying to survive in the nations toughest high school football division.
