Watched the end of La Habra / Grace last night. My God...what a heart-breaker for La Habra. Grace had no time outs left, down by 2 with :24 to go, and it looked like LH tried a short squib kick that went awry. Then a penalty...then a long pass down inside the 5 with :14 left. Clock runs out because of clock operator error not killing it to reset the chains, and LH is celebrating. But wait...officials catch the error, and put :14 back on...and the QB, instead of clocking it, and setting up a chip shot FG, RUNS it in...GAME OVER.
What the heck was LH thinking giving them a short field with only :24 left, no time outs left for Grace, and up by 2?
Unreal.

I'm trying to watch the Fox Sports Go replay but the damn vid clips out too much..... maybe later. Ya HTL on TOB has got to be sick.... but he has said LH spaces out, doesn't finish... same thing in the loss to Calabasas and the playing down to teams like Fullerton when you don't need to try to hard. Not a way to play if you want to go all the way. CDM has played only one way, knock you out to 35 and running clock. Last night they took some big blows early on against Alemany as they trailed twice in Q1, first time all season. But it was CDM that finished the fight in dominant fashion. La Habra didn't or couldn't. Season over.

Kind of a chore to watch your game and theirs. You would've handled la Habra... You're better coached.
If you do get to see it, the last 24 seconds will leave you scratching your head.

You would've handled la Habra... You're better coached. I have no doubt, were they are good we are great. Coaches included. I used Maxpreps all the time when updating Football results for WJBC every week.
If Scorestream didn’t have the score, Maxpreps usually did.

Alemany was bigger as well....., so was Cajon. We have negated this all season by just playing better football as a unit, team. And actually, we are about as stout as we have ever been.but CDM's D is overshadowed by the O. Yes, for obvious reasons..., and they are forced to play a lot of minutes because the offense scores so fast. And they still only average points against around 12. The big elephant in the handicapping room is Graces defense, look at the two Westlake games and even the La Habra games. If these teams are putting up 35, 38, 45 on Grace, what do you think CDM is capable of...? CDM just put 48 on Alemany... Grace gave up 31 to Lawndale as well. CDM is going to be walking out onto their home field for a CIF CHAMPIONSHIP game in which their opponent won against them last year. This is a senior CDM team that is undefeated, has smacked everyone they played and has had Grace Brethren circled on their calendars for a year. I'll let you handicap the rest from here...... It stops for about 2 seconds and then starts the 40 second clock. The HL should drop a beanbag where the drive starts if the chains are not set. The reason they put the time back on the clock was because a very good Back Judge noticed that the clock had been running after the whistle. We have a axiom that time adjustments are critical if they are over/under 5 seconds or within the last 4 minutes of the game and half no matter how much time was missed. great catch by that crew to make sure both teams had all the time allowed. |
