JSerra beat MD 5-0 (!) last night, avenging a 4-0 loss earlier in the season. That's an amazing turnaround in soccer. |

Well, J Serra did beat Mater Dei and the standings are: Mater Dei 6-3-1 = 19 points J Serra 6-3-1 = 19 points Servite 5-1-4 = 19 points SJ Bosco 4-4-2 = 14 points SMCHS 4-4-2 = 14 points O Lu 0-10 = 0 points That's based on 3 points for a win and 1 for a tie, and it looks like a tri-championship. At least I think that's the way things are. But if they are using 2 points for a win and 1 for a tie, then Servite has 14 points to 13 for the other two teams. It is indeed a three-way tie for the Trinity League soccer title. |

Coincidentally, Corona del Mar is playing Servite in the first round of the boys soccer playoffs, and playing Mater Dei in the first round of the girls.

Watched the scoreless 1st half, where Servite controlled the ball about 80% of the time. The Friars were simply too skilled for the Sea Kings and eventually broke through in the 2nd half. Good supporting crowd for CdM; lots of blond heads out there.

Big upset in the matchup to meet Servite in the quarterfinals: Irvine University beat the #1 seed San Clemente in PKs 7-6, after a 0-0 regulation and OT period. Are the soccer gods smiling upon the Friars? The initial draw looked brutal, but Aliso Niguel upset Paramount in the 1st round and now San Clemente has been taken down. University will host Servite next Tuesday, for a chance to meet the winner of Cathedral @ Santa Barbara. The other side of the bracket features: - JSerra @ Mission Viejo (backyard brawl)
- Loyola @ Santa Ana (huge culture clash, though SAHS might actually be in a better neighborhood than LHS)

How is University the home team here? University was home against San Clemente while Servite was on the road. |
