I witnessed the glorious victory ar Warren H.S. Loyola is a great team, was not sharp in the 1st half but really put the pressure on in the 2nd, tying it up early. Servite held on and scored the go ahead goal with 14' remaining. Loyola players and fans were clearly expecting a win....but really happy for our kids. Lots of alumni from the 2015 CIF champs on hand as well.

Loyola won each of the first four rounds by identical 3-0 scores. This Friar win was definitely an upset.

The Friars fall to the Phantoms of Cathedral in a rematch of the Southern Section semifinal. 1-1 in regulation. Great playoff run for these kids. Well done! |

Talk about evenly matched teams! CIF Semifinals 0-0 with Servite advancing on penalty kicks. And now Regional semifinals 1-1 with Cathedral advancing on penalty kicks.

And now Regional semifinals 1-1 with Cathedral advancing on penalty kicks. this is why at times soccer can be a brutal sport to be a fan of.... 0-0 and 1-1 and ending on a play that has little to do with the game itself or how it was played. |

So now Spencer is the coach at Orange Lutheran. I wonder if this is a case of Servite not willing to match what OLu was offering? Or perhaps he is thinking longer term in that there is a higher ceiling at OLu.
