Big opening week in Trinity League soccer action. Servite hosts St. John Bosco Wednesday and travels to Mater Dei on Friday.

Servite controls its destiny but it's still a tight three-team race for the Trinity League title. If Servite is able to avenge its earlier loss to JSerra this Thursday then 1st place is almost assured. If not it could put Mater Dei back in the driver's seat.

Servite tied SMCHS 1-1 tonight, their third straight tie. Meanwhile, Mater Dei defeated Bosco tonight, and they are in the driver's seat. Servite's last game is against winless O Lu, but unless Mater Dei loses to J Serra, Servite's 6-year championship streak will come to an end.

Well, J Serra did beat Mater Dei and the standings are:
Mater Dei 6-3-1 = 19 points
J Serra 6-3-1 = 19 points
Servite 5-1-4 = 19 points
SJ Bosco 4-4-2 = 14 points
SMCHS 4-4-2 = 14 points
O Lu 0-10 = 0 points
That's based on 3 points for a win and 1 for a tie, and it looks like a tri-championship. At least I think that's the way things are.
But if they are using 2 points for a win and 1 for a tie, then Servite has 14 points to 13 for the other two teams.

JSerra beat MD 5-0 (!) last night, avenging a 4-0 loss earlier in the season.
