So now Spencer is the coach at Orange Lutheran. I wonder if this is a case of Servite not willing to match what OLu was offering? Or perhaps he is thinking longer term in that there is a higher ceiling at OLu. I gotta say that one's a head-scratcher. OLU was by far the weakest team in the Trinity League last year (losing games by 10+ goals). I wish him the best of luck. Spencer was also our head of admissions, so there's another important slot to fill.

When a head coach leaves a program that just won a CIF D-1 championship to go to a program that has been 1-42-1 the last two seasons, there has to be some underlying friction that we don't know about.

Given the fact he was the head of admissions, one has to wonder if continual issues arose between he and one of the coaches in regards to acceptance of athletes, either for the 9th grade or transfers into the upper levels.

We might be thinking too hard on this. I know this sounds too non-controversial, but perhaps he was simply offered a nice bump in salary by OLU to do nothing but coach and was looking for a new challenge; what else is there for him to accomplish at Servite?

He has done wonders at Servite, and maybe he just feels he can do more to further the acceptance of soccer by American youth, by taking over the O Lu soccer program.

Maybe there's been a positive change in the way athletics are being viewed at OLU. Haven't heard good things over there the past few years.

Actual game action today. Servite downs OLU at the Great Park in Irvine.

Spencer is already doing great things at O Lu. Last season the Lancers would have lost this game by 11-0 or so.

JSerra had defeated Servite in the first round of league play and were in the driver's seat with only a single tie against no losses, until last week's come-from-behind 2-1 victory by Servite over JSerra, and the Friars' 4-1 victory today over SM clinched the Trinity League once again.

Take a look at the brackets. There's some pretty good matchups out there next week. Lots of our favorite schools represented in the D-1 playoffs.

Servite (12-1) is the #2 seed in boys soccer. Mater Dei (10-1) is the #2 seed in girls soccer. If the entire Servite team was willing to turn trans, that might be a great matchup.

If the entire team went trans they'd win the World Cup. Unfortunately this would make them ineligible to remain at Servite.
