The dunce. I believe those who are influenced by the dunce have capacity to be influenced by you or me, and I have faith in our ability to present a better argument when presented the opportunity.
To compare, the dunce is sure in his opinions, refuses to consider other opinions and lives in Philadelphia.

Doc... Have you heard of this guy, and do you agree with him? No, I’ve never heard of him and he did not invent email. As to the second question, I don’t know if I agree or not because I’m not sure what he’s trying to say. To say that viruses are not what kill us is like saying that falling off a cliff is not what kills us, rather, it’s that sudden stop at the end. What a virus can do is start a domino effect of organ failures that leads to death (in rare cases). An “overreaction” of the immune system - whatever he means by that - can play a role but not necessarily. And of course if you have underlying deficiencies in your pulmonary system or immune system that makes you more likely to begin this domino effect. And if you have ingested whatever “toxins” he may be referring to (Presumably something like cigarettes), that would exacerbate the problem. He’s not saying anything groundbreaking here, but he is being a little pedantic., if not flakey.................Luca

Who's worse...the dunce, or the people influenced by the dunce? depends if the people being influenced are also dunces, if they are not and being influenced then that is what would define "worse".

Took the family to Mass today and then patronized one of our local eateries. Being cautious but also trying to keep things as normal as possible.

Interesting visual on various Pandemics. Not sure why they overlooked deaths of "those associated with Bill and Hillary Clintons."

Governors of both Ohio and Illinois have ordered the closure of all bars and restaurants in their states. At what point does the reaction to the virus cause more harm than the virus itself?
And now California. Is this even within the governor's authority?

On Friday, my son in law got a similar text from one of his friends, saying Trump was going to announce at 3 pm that only going to the doctor and grocery store would be allowed. Heard it from someone in DC as well. Conspiracy theory anyone?

The crazy texts are multiplying. I got one from a buddy last night that Gavin Newsom will proclaim a mandatory "extreme isolation" of all seniors. meaning that everyone over 65 will basically be under house arrest. Personally, I'll keep going out until that son-of-a-bitch comes to my front door and puts an ankle monitor on me.

It's interesting to watch the panic spread amongst so many people. The Drudge Report makes it look like the apocalypse is upon us. When there's an economic panic I'm not really sure what to think because I'm abysmally ignorant of economic realities. But with this type of panic I'm completely comfortable because I know what's going to happen and it's nothing near what some people fear.
I've noticed this morning that I have fewer patients scheduled than I normally would and I assume that's because people don't want to come into a medical office and risk exposure to possible cases. That's reasonable, actually. (My daughter asked me in all seriousness if we were going to close our office like other businesses).
Two of my favorite quotes come to mind:
"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to put its pants on". That's attributed to Winston Churchill, and
"If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs/ And blaming it on you.............." Rudyard Kipling. (This one would be most useful for Donald Trump, who finds to his surprise that suddenly presidents are responsible for international epidemics).

So, when you go out and they try to arrest you, tell them the CDC has proscribed gatherings of greater than 50... like jail. 👍

Just to put some perspective, caught this article, which if you recall was something I wrote on a thread here over a week ago..., simply as a question yet I felt had much validity..., in no way am I downplaying the health issues, yet the reaction to this appears now more than ever to have subplot, subtext that can't be ignored. COVID-19 panic: Far more damaging than the virus itself
Exclusive: Patrice Lewis on attempt to harm Trump: 'Unsurprisingly, Dems are flat-out lying' Patrice Lewis By Patrice Lewis Published March 13, 2020 at 7:35pmIt's been a crazy week, hasn't it? On Monday, the stock market tanked. On Tuesday, Italy shut down. On Wednesday, Seattle closed its schools. On Thursday, Denmark locked down. By Friday, it seemed most of our country was in an advanced state of panic.Hysteria is sweeping the globe, and it's ridiculous.Typical example: "Last week, Gov. David Ige of Hawaii declared a state of medical emergency even though there had not been one case of the coronavirus there. He recommended that everyone have a two-week supply of food. There was pandemonium at the supermarkets."As of March 13, there have been 137,000 reported cases worldwide of this new strain of coronavirus, with 5,065 deaths. Eighty percent of the cases were in China (which, to put it in perspective, has a population of 1.5 billion).Meanwhile, according to the CDC, during the 2018-2019 flu season there were 35 million cases of the flu just in the United States, with 34,000 deaths. From Oct. 2019 through Feb. 22, 2020, the U.S. has had 45 million cases of the flu, with 46,000 deaths.About these shocking-but-normal statistics, we hear … crickets. What on earth is causing such panic over COVID-19? Why can't people put things in perspective? This virus is not Ebola or bubonic plague, yet we're acting like it's a death sentence for anyone and everyone who contracts it. I know the media tends to operate on an "if it bleeds, it leads" basis, but it's driving me nuts to see the ridiculous amount of unnecessary terror being cultivated. There is far more damage being created by the panic than by the virus itself. The damage is hitting hardest those who are most unable to take a hit – small business owners, hourly workers, the poor. Yet because the media continue to push the angst and drama, the panic worsens, and the little guy takes a huge hit. There will be millions of job losses. Did you get that? Not deaths, job losses. Millions.
"When the radioactive dust settles from this orchestrated panic-strategy, potentially hundreds of billions will have been lost, thousands of businesses closed, and millions of employees fired," observes Douglas MacKinnon with Issue Insights. "The economic devastation ignited by the deliberate panic strategy is spreading like an unchecked wildfire. … Naturally, once it was clear that the panic was not only taking hold but spreading, craven politicians predictably jumped into the echo chamber to scream 'The Sky is Falling' for partisan or self-serving reasons."
I can't speak for China or Europe, but it's easy to see why the hysteria is being pushed in the United States. The virus is being politicized in a last-ditch effort to make sure Trump isn't reelected in November. Since the Russia collusion hoax, the Ukraine accusations and impeachment didn't work … maybe the coronavirus will.
"Clearly there is an effort by the left to talk this into a 'coronavirus' slump so it can destroy a significant amount of the economy built by Trump and Republicans in time for Democrats to find some way to narrowly slip figurehead president Joe Biden into the Oval Office," observes Jon Dougherty. www.wnd.com/2020/03/covid-19-panic-far-damaging-virus/

(My daughter asked me in all seriousness if we were going to close our office like other businesses). I had a dental appointment tomorrow, but I received a call this morning postponing it because the ADA has ordered dental offices to close for two weeks.
