Politicians lie. Thats a given. Obama was better than most, if not all, regarding honesty. So you're barking up the wrong tree with that particular "whataboutism". This guy lies much more and much more stupidly. I mean why would he say such outrageously blatant bald and bold lies. He actually got on tv and said he was calling it a pandemic before everyone else. That's the kind of lie that makes you wonder about the sanity of the liar doesn't it?
You mentioned Obama a time or two. Askng me if I supported him. I answered affirmatively. But along with that support I also criticized him from time to time. So, what is wrong with Traitor and why is it that cons can't seem to criticize anything about him, not the least of the dozens of crazy things he's done and especially his pathological lying? Why?
There's a thread called Trump Pros & Cons that shows guys on this site with specific criticisms. I can't think of many reasonable Americans who don't cringe whenever he talks or tweets. I think there about 4-5 here that didn't vote for him, myself included. FWIW, I've been an Independent all my adult life, and nothing I've seen from either side is inspiring me to change that. My take on "lying" is different than yours. I've never been as good with mind-reading as many on the right were when calling nearly everything out of Obama's mouth a lie, or as you must be knowing that Trump intentionally lies all the time. My approach would never sell newspapers, as I'm more concerned with accurate v inaccurate, instead of the headline grabbing stuff. I believe most presidents want to deliver what they campaign on, but more often than not, fall short. When they do, the other side of the fence is quick to jump with the "liar" hyperbole. My take on that is, those who engage in that hyperbole are the ones who are truly full of crap, as they KNOW they can't read minds, but blather on anyway. Ok, let me simplify. Week before last we all saw and heard this guy state how he had a "hunch" that it would all sort of fizzle out by April and how the numbers of affected people were so small. In general downplaying it. As is the case with this guy he said it publicly either at his rally or on television. It's readily available for anyone and everyone to see.
NOW he's saying he called it a pandemic before anybody else did. That is a deranged type of lying. That is a pathological type of lying. No other president comes close to this level and type of lying. None. What is your description of that type of lying?

a "hunch" does not a lie make.... a lie is ALL knowing something is not true. "ALL" knowing and nobody on this planet knows "ALL" about this Coronavirus strain. Maybe if you were a deeper thinker and a bit less gullible and resorted less to everything "GOTCHA" you could carry a more intelligent debate as well as be a better human being.

Jesus Christ, dave, you've sung this same song about 20 times now. Why don't you give it a rest? Trump acts out like a 5-year-old, and 5-year-olds lie. Who gives a shit? All politicians lie. It's how they get elected and how they stay in office. Why did Obama lie about being able to keep your doctor and your health plan? Why did Hillary lie about the Benghazi attack being caused by a stupid video? Why did Biden lie about his strong-arming Ukraine? Why did Bill Clinton lie about "never having sexual relations with that woman? Why did JFK lie about never planning an invasion of Cuba? Why did LBJ lie about what happened in the Gulf of Tonkin? Why did FDR lie about never sending our troops to fight a foreign war? Hell, why did Lincoln lie about never touching the institution of slavery in the South? Personally, I'd rather have a president lie about something stupid and trivial, like who first called this a pandemic, than about something of major substance.

It never really occurred to me to spend much time differentiating the types of lies, nor am I qualified to determine if a lie is truly pathological. I assume you've got some type of formal training with this discipline, lest you be guilty of using hyperbole as some sort of proof here that Trump, like every other politician, lies. Again, my evaluation is simply whether or not the statements are accurate, or the degree to which it was missed in the case of numerically bound projections. In this particular case, I wasn't paying attention to who first called this a pandemic - likely because I don't care. What I do care about, is our beloved governor claiming that 20 million in CA alone will be infected with this virus, and shutting down the state because of it. THAT MATTERS. |

This guy is 15K and climbing. Right now you know he's lying about the masks and ventilators. You can't believe anything he says because he's a pathological liar. And none of that applies to any other politician. There's no comparison to the number and type of lying this asshole does. Lets try to be honest here.

Decide that person intended to deceive based on that presumption 3. Keep track of how many of those presumptions I decided were "lies" 4. Come up with some measurement to determine the type of those lies. Clearly, it's important to you, and that's perfectly OK. It just isn't my thing. Most every person here agrees that politicians lie, and Trump being a politician, lies. You've made it clear that you hate dishonesty, which, I assume means, you don't like or trust politicians. OK. What's not clear, is why you continue to repeat yourself with the same mantra. Would you consider that behavior to be...pathological? |
