AUHSD just got shut down after a week of practice. Others may have to follow.

Any specific data emerge that led to this decision?

I'm sure it's all based on liability and potential lawsuits.

We (officials) have been told we will have a decision on July 20 if there will be a fall season to officiate. We also received a survey asking questions like: would we be willing to waive liability to schools for Covid .. would we officiate if told we needed a mask .. would we officiate if we had no shower or change facilities .. would we officiate if the season was shortened and/or played in Dec-Feb time frame. I replied YES to all and commented on the mask since I do a lot of running working the flank position. I'm old, I need every breath I can get while I can. I haven't figured out how you blow a whistle with a mask on yet.

I haven't figured out how you blow a whistle with a mask on yet. This is probably when a clever entrepreneur would develop the butt whistle. Or miniaturized air horns. Both would allow officials' masks to remain firmly in place.

Anyone know why H.S. sports on-campus workouts were postponed after only one day?

For us it was two weeks and one day, but yes, Mater Dei, Servite and Santa Margarita all closed down Tuesday afternoon at the recommendations of the Orange County Department of Education and the Orange Diocese. I can't speak for pubic schools because I don't know.

The season ain't happening fellas. This hope of doing it in the next semester also doesn't make sense to me.
Feel for the seniors who needed this season. But for guys like Korey Foreman, I'd be celebrating.

But for guys like Korey Foreman, I'd be celebrating. If that is really the case it would be effing ridiculous. All the data and science says COVID-19 is less deadly to teenagers than the seasonal flu. The media and the CDC have scared people shitless and I can see the same thing happening to CFB and the NFL. So I guess Miller Moss can transfer back to Alemany.

Do they not matter? This isn't just about the said person who catches it. Its not about scaring people shitless. Too much liability here. And its not going away. Its being said Texas is cancelling their high school football season, and we know how important high school football is to that state. Something about watching kids who play for free playing football this coming season, in this environment, doesn't sit well with me.

You might want to look at some of the COVID threads on the General Discussion side to see where some of us are coming from on COVID. To me this is just another trend in the flawed attempt to prevent anyone--at all cost--from getting infected. The problem is, we cannot stop this thing. For 99.9% the virus is harmless or no worse than the flu. We can only protect those most vulnerable and allow the population to gain immunity. I'm a teacher and I've got my own school-age kids, and I have no fear for them or myself.
But I'm not surprised at these recent developments. On the bright side, at least we know there are only four months left of COVID hysteria....
