The general election is Nov. 3. The high school football season can be scheduled to start on Nov. 4, because one way or another, COVID will suddenly no longer be an extinction-level threat, especially if Biden wins.

we'll just have to agree to disagree. I don't need to look at a thread on a public forum where some have an agenda to make me feel any way. I listen to the experts, look at the numbers, see pro leagues cancelling/postponing their seasons, college footballl conferences doing away with non-conference games, to form my opinion. They aren't making these decisions for shits and giggles.
I work for a major TV station group, run by people who know top experts in the medical field, and thats where I get my info. WFH since March and most likely through the end of this year, at least. And I do know a lot of the decisions are also based on liability. Nobody wants to open things up and face a liability. Facts. Its why I think high school won't happen.
We're talking about high school football.
And I don't even know what to say about "there are only four months left of COVID hysteria." Wasn't sure if that was a serious comment. We're further out than 4 months here.
I commend you for being so positive though. Solid trait to have, but in "my" opinion, way off base.

I hope I'm right too, because the prospect of a mentally-challenged Joe Biden leading the efforts to defeat this virus and resurrect this economy is more terrifying than I can stand.

I’ve been living in terror since the Donald was elected. I was afraid he would cause our country to be further divided along political, racial, moral, and gender lines. I can understand both sides of this issue. The numbers say let them play but the emotional appeals are difficult to ignore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

College is next. The cancelling of the non-conference games was just delaying the inevitable, which is college will cancel the season and hope to play in the spring.
Again, I just don't understand the thought process on playing in the spring. That assumes so much. But its a hope. All you have is hope these days.
Gonna be awkward for Miller Moss. Does he go back to Alemany?

They will say start in Jan because it doesn't make sense to just cancel the entire season without actually seeing how things are 5 months from now. Just push it back and hope for the best is an easy option to take.

I agree, kupp, except that January is the middle of flu season, and a few sick kids will allow all the old demons and fear-mongers to rise again and fight against having any season at all.

There will never be a perfect time for this season, too many factors that be, from the actual virus to the political landscape. Allowing any school, any sports goes against the "control" conditions set forth that will be on full display till November, bank it.

I think someone's account has been hacked by Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Fear the spear Covid and everyone hide under their beds until no one ever gets sick again....or for a YEAR if we're lucky.
The fear won't end when the pandemic is over; the pandemic will be over when the fear stops.

the pandemic will be over when the fear stops. The pandemic will be over when one of 2 things happen, our society develops herd immunity or a vaccine is developed. I agree with you that fear is driving a lot of the decisions, some right and some wrong. I prefer to follow data and science. This table below published this week in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows the facts. And these data are from confirmed cases. The actual mortality rates are considerably lower because a large percent of cases are never confirmed, or even realized. The issue preventing football being played is NOT about player safety. If it were we would be playing football now because the chances of a high school football players dying from COVID are less than dying from heat stroke or sudden cardiac arrest, which there are unfortunately multiple instances every year across the country. The issue is the speed of COVID from asymptomatic young people to others who are at risk if they become infected........ parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, etc. I think we can all improve our mental state if we just accept that there will be no football this year. Those that think otherwise have their head buried in the sand. I want football to be played as much as anybody because I will go bat shit crazy in the Fall without it. Plus for selfish reasons I want a season because I really like my team’s chances this coming season and I need to expunge the memory of their last game. But it ain’t happening this coming school year.

But you're entitled to your opinion. We'll see who's right. I hope I'm completely wrong. Really stunned you're an actual teacher too, and have this opinion.
