All respect to the Monarchs, who, after giving up the 5-0 lead to find themselves down 10-5 nine outs later, could have folded the tent on the road. Yet they staged a gutsy comeback, and had the go-ahead run on base in the T7. Whoever the new head coach is, he has managed a nice turnaround from a difficult 2018 season.
OLU still the team to beat in Trinity, with Bosco also looking good. No easy wins in this league.

OLU still the team to beat in Trinity, with Bosco also looking good. No easy wins in this league. The new coach is Richard Mercado. Played Football and Baseball at Mater Dei. Quit football and decided to focus on baseball. That was a bummer, he was a hell of a linebacker. Richard earned a scholie to Arizona State and was drafted for the Diamond Backs. One of the better plays I saw was when MD played SM. Ozzie and Jose Canseco showed to scout Chris Rix. Rix hit a triple and was standing at 3rd. The next batter hits a bomb to right center field. Rix tagged to score and Richie ran to the wall to make the grab and HOSED Rix at the plate from the WALL. |

Finale of the Servite-Mater Dei Trinity League opening series: After a nightmare top of the first where the Monarchs scored 5 runs, Servite comes back with 3 in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd to tie it up 5-5. Then this in the bottom of the 3rd: Now heading into the top of the 7th, 11-7 Friars. Monarchs mounting a comeback: Nail biter......but the game ends 11-10. Great game and great series. A lot closer than the 3-0 series result indicates. TEN to FIVE??? Sounds like an Angels Game (they usually get the 5 in that scenario) |

Yes, they were highly rated pre-season, then dropped out of the ratings completely, and now they are back up where they belong. Of course, they stole one of our best players to get there.  |
