Servite salvages a win in the final game of the series against J Serra 6-5. At the end of the first round of Trinity League play the standings are:
Orange Lutheran 6-0
J Serra 4-2
Servite 4-2
SMCHS 2-4
Bosco 1-5
Mater Dei 1-5

Not exact, but nearly an inverse of the football standings over the past couple of years. But there's a long way to go. Servite still has to go against OLU, SM, and Bosco--all of them high quality teams, but I'll take it so far. |

Orange County baseball reeling today. Down goes Cypress, Orange Lutheran and Huntington Beach in first-round games of the Boras Classic to Mira Costa, Notre Dame and La Mirada. A reminder that Division 1 playoffs will be very competitive. ~ E. Sond

Following the sweep of Mater Dei to open Trinity League play, Servite is 1-4 in its last 5 league games. Need a stop, especially with OLU looming next week.

Sweeping Mater Dei makes their season IMHO. But yeah, after scoring 12 runs to defeat Tesoro, all they've managed since is a single run in the last 14 innings.

OLU wins 1-0 tonight in the bottom of the 8th at Hart Park on a bases-loaded chopper up the middle. Servite starting pitcher Chris Grothues, a FRESHMAN, recorded seven innings of shutout ball, giving up only 5 hits while keeping the Lancers off balance all night. Amazing no-decision performance for the kid.

3-1 Servite, 1-0 OLU, and 4-3 OLU.

OLU takes Game #3 4-3 in nine innings, in a series that couldn't be any closer. 3-1 Servite, 1-0 OLU, and 4-3 OLU. Yep, two straight extra-inning one run losses for the Friars. Six runs scored by each team in the series. Servite needs to win at least two of three from Bosco to have a shot at 3rd place, and a playoff spot. |

What division are you guys in? I see Cypress and OLu at the top of D1. Are MD and Servite in a different division?
