Olu, Servite, Santa Margarita and Jserra start the D1 baseball playoffs on Friday. The two football powers Bosco and Mater Dei again fail to qualify for the playoffs. Football taking all the athletic scholarships that those schools. Tough draw for Corona Del Mar getting a very good Servite team in the first round.

Wow, that's quite a conclusion you draw there, Buck. The Mater Dei boys lacrosse team is the #1 seed in D-1. The Mater Dei boys volleyball team is the #2 seed in D-1. The Mater Dei girls lacross team is the #1 seed in D-2. And the Mater Dei softball team is in the D-1 playoffs as a home team. How do you explain that? |

Isn't this going to be the last year that baseball does playoff placement like this? I heard that they were going to go to the same system as football. Bosco and MD were ranked most of the season in their respective divisions. But I guess each league only gets so many playoff teams, regardless of division.

Former Mater Dei Coach Burt Call doing an outstanding job over at Villa Park. He took the Spartans to the Boris Tournament Championship and his team is one of the top ranked teams in D1.
