Rush Limbaugh dead at 70. Not surprised: He’s been on borrowed time for a couple years. I didn’t appreciate his bluster, but did like his message. Farewell, Rush.

Rush Limbaugh dead at 70. Even though this was imminent for the better part of the past year, it's still a gut punch.

That was a pretty amazing life he lead. He started off as a sports announcer for the Kansas City Royals and somehow drifted into political commentary. My recollection is that he hit the big-time when Bill Clinton was elected in 1992. He was the most vocal and uncompromising opposition spokesman to some of the programs Clinton was initially trying to introduce.
I don't know for sure but I think that Rush Limbaugh's rallying of opposition was one of the reasons that Clinton scaled back on a lot of his not-quite-ready-for-prime-time liberal programs. That along with the dot-com boom was the reason that Clinton was the last president to show an annual budget surplus.

Lefties everywhere are rejoicing and kicking a dead man, including the Bidiots over on TOB.
But here is a great story about one of his accomplishments.
May the Perpetual Light shine upon him.

None of you knew Rob, at least I don’t know that you do. Rob and I were roommates for awhile when we rented a house in Anaheim, on Zeyn Street. He organized and staged some of the most memorable parties at the house and got me a job managing for Stuart Anderson’s Restaurants, where he was a bartender . On Monday, he had gotten up early but felt uncomfortable for some reason, so he went back to the bedroom, laid down at the foot of his bed, and quietly passed into his reward. Rob left his wife, a son and a daughter, and several grandchildren. I cannot say I am sad, because he was a Christian and us, right now, sitting in the presence of God: He doesn’t need faith anymore, he is witnessing it, face to face. I cannot say I miss him, because we have lived a couple thousand miles apart for decades... OK, maybe miss his Facebook wisdom a little, but even that was infrequent. maybe I’m just jealous that he made it before the rest of our group? I don’t know. But, Rob, Rest In Peace...save me a spot... say “hey” to my family and our friends who have gone before... fair winds and following seas, my friend!

Wow, Marvin was only 66, so it will be interesting to see what the cause of death turns out to be. He may have been one of the dozen best fighers I've seen in my lifetime.

Indeed he was, I had the opportunity to spend a day with him as well as his late daughter Eleanor, he was a down to earth guy, extremely friendly and a stand up family guy. Although I do not stand for much of what his political affiliation or present party stands for, back in his peek political time he wasn't that far from center if much at all. In fact he was a Democrat whom stood for and advocated REDUCING THE FEDERAL DEBT. He was also a man whom went AGAINST the racist tactics performed by DEMOCRATS against African Americans within the Democratic Party as well as the nation, especially in the state of Mississippi where African Americans were truly not given fair opportunity to vote. RIP "FRITZ". Interesting side note: Carter and Mondale were the longest-living post-presidential team in American history. On May 23, 2006, they had been out of office for 9,254 days (25 years, 4 months and 3 days), surpassing the former record established by President John Adams and Vice President Thomas Jefferson, both of whom died on July 4, 1826.
