COVID will not just be with us beyond 2021, it will be with us forever, just like the common cold, influenza, herpes, HIV, ebola and hundreds of other viral diseases. And a widely effective vaccine is a long shot, just as it has been for those other diseases. Our choices are to cower under our beds and allow this nation to die, or to open up, live our lives normally, protect the elderly, and achieve herd immunity at whatever the cost will be. All indications are that the cost will be surprisingly low.

Was at a Newport Beach park yesterday and out of 20 adults and 30 children only 1 person had a mask on. After 6 months of this I still only know 1 personal friend who has had COVID. He said it was like a mild influenza and nothing more.

A wealth of interesting information: The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) graded America’s 50 governors. The linked report discusses methodology and provides a ton of supporting information. I am not aware of their bias because I have not looked it up, but it bears noting, of the 15 top performing Governors, 13 of them are Republican; and of the bottom 15, 12 were democrats (Republicans were the governors of West Virginia, Vermont, and Ohio) Included in the grading methodology was also each governor’s COVID-19 response. <SPOILER ALERT> in the race to the bottom of the barrel, I am finally gratified to report our governor is worse than yours: Out of 50, Newsom ranked 40th, our beloved rotundary, Pritzker, ranked 44th. WE’RE WORSE THAN YOU WE’RE WORSE THAN YOU WE’RE WORSE THAN YOU 🍾

Sorry, but there is no way there are 10 governors in this nation that are worse than Gavin Newsom.
