This one has me stymied... I'm not sure how I feel about this. Knee jerk reaction is, this is a trail we should not be going down. Feels like we're playing God.There has never been a cross species migration occurring in Nature which is why I call evolution "bunk." So this is a created species, BUT they say they're only creating it for transplanting organs into humans.... I don't know if it would have a soul (a deal killer for me) or not (still object to raising an animal just to harvest its organs... although we raise chickens and cows and pigs just to kill and eat them... Absent the moral implications, what do you think theologically? Scientists Create Early Embryos That Are Part Human, Part Monkey

Why is this news, as it's been happening naturally for decades: Most Democrats are part human and part monkey.

Hopefully none of them get out and we end up with a Charlton Heston sequel.

I hope you weren't hoping for an intelligent response to your post Dave, it looks like you won't get one.
I don't think there are any theological questions here...this sort of science simply isn't part of the theologians universe.

This is from a (mostly) Catholic author and teacher, but I don't know why I mention that because it doesn't matter: Its is a worthy topic that has given me something not consider. Superficial read leads me to believe it is accurate. Are Atheists Rejecting the Wrong God?
This is the biggest issue I encounter when talking to Atheists... and his response is exactly what I've said, "I wouldn't believe in that deity, either." What are your thoughts?

I think fasting can be healthy Credo. One meal a day is great too. Think of all of the time we waste eating or preparing the meals (or waiting in line or at a restaurant table).

Under the heading of "Unintended Consequences of our Actions," I noticed something this morning...
I'm reading through the Bible chronologically and today, I was in Genesis 16-21. Mostly about Abraham and Sarah (who started as Abram and Sarai).
God promises to make Abraham, who has no children at 100 years old, the father of many nations, who's descendants will one as innumerable as the stars in the sky. Abraham tells his wife who is 90-something and well past child bearing years and they both doubt. So Sarah (Sarai at that point) mentions her age while suggesting Abraham has sex with her Egyptian maid, Hagar (not Sammy), and Ishmael is born who is foretold in Genesis 16 with "...He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyoneās hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.ā"
Eventually, Isaac is born and Sarah gets jealous of Ishmael so has Abraham banish Hagar and Ismael.
Abraham doesn't want to do it, but petitions God who assures him Ishmael will also inherit a blessing of being the progenitor of many people so Abraham banishes them and they settle in the Wilderness of Panar, which we know today as Iraq and most of Saudi Arabia.... where Mecca is located, and in 610 BC, Mohammed invented Islam.
Hagar gets an Egyptian wife for the Hal-egyptian Ishmael and they start popping out children...
God obviously knew about and planned to use Ishmael's offspring, but no way Sarah, Abraham, Hagar (not Sammy), or Ishmael could have foreseen the launch of the centuries of Arab/Israeli conflict that would develop from their seemingly not-so-innocent decisions.

I don't think there are any theological questions here...this sort of science simply isn't part of the theologians universe. You're right, I put it in the Religion group because it is not news, per se. But I would like an intelligent response at some point. I know you believe "...this sort of science simply isn't part of the theologians universe," but I have read several authors who lead me to believe otherwise. They might or might not toe the line with some of the humanistic scientists' conclusions, but they have given their lives to following the evidence. Stephen C Meyer ( Signature in the Cell) is one example. There are others.
