I didn't get the impression he was doing it to show support for Christians. It looked more to me like a silly, disingenuous photo op to score some cheap political points.

It may have indeed been a photo op, but the church had been burned the night before by "peaceful protestors". It is a church that has been visited by all Presidents for decades, so it was also a nod of respect.

It just seemed so out of place in the hands of a guy like Trump, when you know he's never opened one. His holding a six-pack or a dildo would have been no more out of place.

Oakley, I'm sorry you feel that way. I think it's more irrational to support almost everything this guy does, regardless of how outrageous it is, rather than evaluate everything he does and says on a case by case basis. I don't think being taken aback by this man posing with a Bible is irrational.

His taunts to those who don’t like him are on the list. His tweets are definitely on the list. Just for starters. i cannot argue he doesn’t have some outrageous moments, but I don’t give him a bye because everyone is attacking him. That is what the democrats do, it’s most of their entire political strategy. Just put on his big-boy pants and move on.

I don't think being taken aback by this man posing with a Bible is irrational. What does Trump do that is outrageous? Really? It's hard to know where to begin. Perhaps just a small sample: – August 3, 2020 – Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, said that the pandemic was “extraordinarily widespread.” Trump replied that she was “pathetic.” – August 4, 2020 – Jonathan Swan of Axios asked Trump how the coronavirus was “under control” when 1,000 Americans were dying of it every day. “They are dying. That’s true. It is what it is,” Trump replied. In the same interview, Trump maintained that he did not know about Russia’s offer of bounties for American troops killed in Afghanistan. The bounties, though, were reportedly brought to his attention in intelligence reports. “I read a lot,” he said. “I comprehend extraordinarily well. Probably better than anybody you’ve interviewed in a long time.” When asked how history will remember the late civil rights leader John Lewis, Trump replied, “I really don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know John Lewis. He chose not to come to my inauguration.” – August 6, 2020 – Trump said that Biden, a Catholic who has long attended Mass, was “following the radical left agenda… no religion, no anything, hurt the Bible, hurt God. He’s against God." This website lists 889 outrages by trump...and it's still getting more. Enjoy. www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/the-complete-listing-so-far-atrocities-1-889#update

The criticism about Trump comes from both sides. Is he supposed to ignore all the lies said about him?

I cannot answer that. so far, no one will argue with facts about the benefits he has done for the country but, to a man, take issue with what they believe to be the source. They ignore any comments about Biden or Harris malfeasance and try to switch the subject to Orange Man, bad

MDDads views about Trump are consistent for a Mater Dei football fan. It is more important to look good before a single game is played, to recruit players who are voted to be great players before they ever accomplish anything and to be the preseason favorites than it is to actually win a championship. That is why he still has the "Obama won a Nobel Peace prize" bumper sticker on his Prius. Don't confuse him with the final results and who is actually accomplishing what.

Thanks for the peek inside MDD’s psyche. I believe I understand him much better now and will try not to judge him so harshly in the future. LOL
