I'd find it pretty hard to let my kid play for a coach who would consider the strategy of losing one or two key games in order to drop into a lower division and make a run at a ring. It's like the guy who says he identifies as a woman so he can beat up on real women in MMA fights and other sports. You might also find it hard to find kids who will play in CA PERIOD after today's mandate. |

Pretty wild to think the #1 seed would be favored by less than a TD v. the #16 seed from D4 down when you consider the spread in D1 is going to be 9 TD from #1 to #8

interesting but this is all heresy at this point as far as match-ups go.... one blip of a change each weeks shakes all this up completely. That said if the season ended today @bick I think you would be playing a dangerous #16 seed in MV, Losing to Norco and San Clemente by just 1 point. Would welcome a CDM vs Amat game as I am sure we have never played them...

It really hasn't changed all that much the past 3 weeks.
Some great match-ups in all divisions after D1. The difference between 1 & 16 is as close as I've ever seen.
That said, we're 0.3 away from playing MD...and losing by 50 in the first round.

Should adopt the San Diego model, and put the top 4 in their own division. The gap between 4 & 5 is HUGE. Just brutal that, as it stands today, Mission Viejo, Norco, & now Los Al will have great seasons only to be rolled by between 5 & 9 TD's in the 1st round. Great f'n theater for the f'n private schools. If earning a spot in the D1 playoffs was respected, teams might have a different attitude. It’s all about the ring and deep playoff runs.

All this whining and manipulation of Calpreps ratings is turning into a joke. Maybe divisional placement should be based solely on enrollment numbers (multiplied by two for all-boys schools). Then gutless coaches couldn't drop a division for the playoffs by tanking a game or two. Instead, the school would have to expel a bunch of kids to lower their student population, and I doubt many schools would be willing to do that.

I predicted they move that to 10 a couple weeks ago, heard too much chatter about it, with that you you would fare better IMHO Bick, LA vs SJB could be a TD closer. |
