A coach can only take the present roster so far..., the front office needs to work like the Clippers new front office..... who is the Jerry West of baseball right now!
First Angel game 1967 and I still have my hat...!

I agree. The front office has the ball. And I don't think Billy Eppler is the dude to get it done. He has made one misjudgment after another when it comes to signing over-the-hill players and never-was guys.

There are two Dodgers I'm curious about.
Why is it that Kershaw cannot pitch worth a damn in a play off game?
Did anybody else notice how Belinger started off extraordinarily hot but with diminishing productivity for the rest of the season, doing zip in the playoffs?

The league's pitchers made the necessary adjustments in their approach to Bellinger in order to cool him off, and he has yet to make any counter adjustments to regain his edge. Often that's tough for young players to do, but the ball's in his court.

He is so NOT the right guy for the job. i think he is under contract through next season, though... which could very well hamper Maddon’s start.

The dust has settled... Nationals won it and, almost immediately, Strausberg announced he was opting for free agency which can only work in his best interest since all the teams will drive up his paycheck as they bid against each other and, THEN, the Nationals get to make a better offer to keep him...
The Angels had damn well be in there slugging. Even if there is only a slight chance the Nationals won’t keep him.

The Angels can't afford both Stephen Strasburg and Gerrit Cole, and Cole is the better play. He's a better pitcher more consistently, and he's less injury-prone. Plus, he's a county kid from Orange Lutheran, so they actually have a shot.

OK, and Gerrit Cole is younger (but will cost a lot more)...and actually, Strasberg strikes me as another Albert Pujols, at 31, we would be tempted to give him a contract that extends beyond his usefulness or ability. Sure he just had a good year and he’s healthy... but how long can we realistically expect 5hat to last. Eppler will probably not go after either one, looking instead to the bargain basement... which is what got us here in the first place.

Unless he's working under constraints we don't know about, Billy Eppler is incompetent. He knows he needs to completely rebuild the starting pitching staff, so my guess is he's already negotiating big contracts with Garrett Richards, C.J. Wilson, Jered Weaver, Matt Shoemaker and Joe Blanton.
