I'd like to think there was some principled reason for this decision. MDDad should have some insight, but perhaps SoFi wasn't willing to budge on their $50-100 parking fees, which I would think would be a non-starter for any high school program.
SJB Nation is no doubt disappointed at missing out on an opportunity to further enhance their recruiting that would come with such publicity.
What is surreal to me, though, is that the signature line is from 30-year Servite guy Joel Hartmann--one of the so-called "Men in Black" who have migrated over to the Evil Empire.

Credo, I can offer a few insights that most people here probably already know:
(1) The game is a regular-season league game, not a playoff or championship game. (2) The game will be televised. (3) It's a bitch to get to Inglewood on a Friday night, especially for those families traveling from the Inland Empire. You're almost better off flying from John Wayne to LAX and catching an Uber to the stadium. (4) A tiered ticket pricing structure would have excluded many people from attending. (5) Parking at SoFi averages about $75 per car. (6) Those five factors would almost certainly have limited attendance to less than 10,000 payers. (7) I can only guess at the cost of renting the stadium for one night, but it's exorbitant.
The only positive reason for playing the game there was for the kids' experience. Nothing else made any sense. Mater Dei can net $50K by playing the game at Eddie West Field. Playing at SoFi would have cost the school more than an away game in Hawaii. I can understand why Bosco and its fans are disappointed by the decision. They are the visiting team this year and have no financial skin in the game. Next year, when they are faced with the same financial realities, let's see if they make a different choice, especially when they can play at Panish Stadium for free.

According to the L.A. Times story, there was a two-year deal in the works, with parking reduced down to $10. Whatever the reason, I think Mater Dei made the right decision (yes, I said it...) in keeping their home game. And at least it was acknowledged two posts above that the Monarch's key mercenaries players are from the Inland Empire. If only to affirm his insincerity, Jason Negro offers the following crocodile tears: Yes, Jason, let's not forget that, in the end, it's all about the kids. Yeah, right. After playing multiple out-of-state games in massive stadiums, an unprecedented and ethically sketchy NIL deal, with about a dozen different helmet and uniform combinations, Jason is just heartbroken about the "young people who are not allowed this opportunity." I'm not sure if this guy could be more out of touch with reality. It-- almost--makes me want to root for Mater Dei to beat down the Braves twice this season and send the entire Bosco Nation into an utter apoplectic despair. St. Augustine recognized this type back in the 5th century with the term libido dominandi.

I just don't get why it's so difficult for those two schools to find anyone willing to play then.

In any given year, most of the top HS teams will have 3-6 D1 level guys. How many did you have in 2019?
I can think of Redman, Garbers and Humphreys. Any others?

D2, D3, PWO, not sure what you are actually asking or getting at.... you seem to steer every conversation back to 2019 Can agree, if you have 6 NCAA D1 players on your HSF team you would certainly be a "TOP" team. But who actually has that just by chance...?

The others, Tommy Griffin S, Thomas Bouda DL, Jake Trachtman OL all went to Cal Poly if you consider that D1 as its a FCS not a FBS D1 school. Scott Guilliano, TE, Harvard D1 FCS Bradley Schlom WR/ATH PWO, UCLA, D1 FBS Chandler Fincher DB PWO TCU D1 FBS now at ASU via transfer portal. JJ Rottler PWO Wyoming D1FBS. Tanner Tomlison OL Western Colorado DII starter. Jack Salmon did get 1 D1 offer from Maryland even though it was known he would be pursuing baseball, I believe he is playing minor league presently. Our kicker, Dane Vorhees is kicking for Saddleback JC. I would have to look deeper at the old roster to see what else I would come up with, I will say the defense was not recognized enough as the offense took all the headlines. The 2019 was also across the board D1 in size, something that never happens at CDM by chance.

"Accumulation" is a tricky word, depending how you use or interpret it, so I'll leave that alone. A clear beginning to the new era of public school recruiting for championships. If public schools used CDM's recruiting as a clear beginning of the new era then all these schools would be playing kids from down the street, the streets they grew up with and I can't imagine any of those D1 schools are following this playbook. Some would admit that, some still won't.
