Public brackets appear to have more equity. In the Private bracketing until other schools gain on the top 2 it's always going to serve up less equity. Spoken like a true liberal.

With all due respect, SK, it's easy to say we don't bring in big-time transfers when 99% of transfers can't afford to move there. I'd be willing to bet that if a 5-star African-American wide receiver or 5-star Polynesian lineman moved into Corona del Mar, the school would not change the locks to keep him out.

Every sport in the world strives for competitve equity. It's not a function of being liberal, IMO. It's actually just the opposite. With outcomes that are pretty clearly predetermined, the interest wanes, making the sport less valuable. It's why NFL has a salary cap.

In the public bracket, how many schools would have a legit shot at winning... Like 8 or 9? Private...the same 2 again. That a HUGE difference.... supporting my point. Take a straw poll...which would be more interesting? Now...if MD was playing IMG for A REAL national championship, THAT would be hugely more intere$$$ting

Yes, it is easy to say by the default logistics and economics, we as well as I have stated that and others observed and acknowledge it. However, with all the resources such as a great education, great athletics, great coaching staff the program still chooses to not pursue in the least what they actually could. There is excellent talent of all races, creeds, backgrounds not always limited to as you simply say of a certain color or specific creed. I have also been clear over the years that even I am not sure that with all the success of the program, they could continue to keep elevating with the hurdles discussed above. Lets face it it, it's an arms race. Bick wants to discount adding 5 or 6 skilled players as nothing much and ho-hum. In Sunset, thats enough to seal the deal, take the trophy and make a laughing stock of half the teams in the league. Winning Trinity or winning Sunset is won as much now in the off season as it is on the field. As for your Liberal tag, suppose that makes MD Capitalists. When I mention equity in HSF I do so in terms not of equal outcome, but equal opportunity. I guess my stating that the "Private Brackets" have less equity is something that bothers you regardless how obviously true it is, deflecting it by resorting to calling a knowingly staunch Conservative a Liberal is beneath you "With All Due Respect".

Which of the 16 public schools have no shot as compared to the private bracket?

Winning Trinity or winning Sunset is won as much now in the off season as it is on the field. We had about 5 new kids, and 5 leave in 2019, the year you rolled us. It's about the same every year. The starting Q's at Cypress and Downey this year are both former Griffins. We lost a DB last year that started for us as a frosh, and another DB to poly who had playing time as a frosh. There is affordable housing in the district that might not exist in your neck of the woods, so player movement for different reasons makes a lot of sense - especially to Los Al these days. Los Al being on the upswing isn't a function of xfers, but a crop of young guys who took their lumps as freshmen a couple years ago. Who knows how long this cycle will last for us.

I know this veers into the NCAA Thread but I started a convo based on an interview with Coach Stoops on AM Sports radio the other day.... well, he knew something was coming..., if you read my post on a OC POWER 5 for publics it kinda goes along these lines..., these schools are going to do it their way, they are going to leave the governing body eventually, they have the power and pull through a concentration of power. Wont be long before privates here in California say buh bye CIF, we don't need you or your rules nor rulings. Yahoo Sports Texas, Oklahoma make first formal step toward joining SEC and exiting Big 12
Yahoo Sports Texas, Oklahoma make first formal step toward joining SEC and exiting Big 12l Pete Thamel Mon, July 26, 2021, 7:32 AM·5 min read The inevitable became reality on Monday, as Texas and Oklahoma began the formal process of unwinding from the Big 12 conference and joining the SEC. It marks the first official step in a potentially seismic move that solidifies the SEC as the strongest conference in college sports and will likely send the other power conferences scrambling to catch up."
