If you take the 2 behemoths out of the TL, who would've guessed the other 4 would be competitive with the Sunset League top 4.
Calpreps Project-a-matchup
[2022] Los Alamitos (CA) 40 (73%), [2022] Lutheran (Orange, CA) 31 (27%)
[2022] Edison (Huntington Beach, CA) 35 (60%), [2022] Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) 31 (40%)
[2022] JSerra (San Juan Capistrano, CA) 31 (87%), [2022] Corona del Mar (Newport Beach, CA) 14 (13%)
[2022] Newport Harbor (Newport Beach, CA) 26 (60%), [2022] Servite (Anaheim, CA) 22 (40%)

It's clear that, in the present uncertain economy, these beach city schools with their free tuition and co-eds with no uniforms have an unfair advantage over our Holy Institutions of Learning. I call on my fellow Trinity League members to phone their bagmen start a pledge drive and ramp up the van pools immediately. Commence the raids upon the heathen taxpayer-funded secular Woke schools! Abscond with anyone 3-stars or above. They probably even have portraits of Gavin Newsom up in their admin offices. We have the Pope! (Sorry, OLu) Each of the aforementioned TL schools will be assigned the Sunset League school closest to them for purposes of Making them Offers they Can't Refuse. JSerra and SM can take CdM and Newport Harbor, since all the blond-haired rich kids will easily transition to South OC; OLu is assigned Edison (lots of Protestants in HB); Servite will reinstitute Operation Grab the Griffins back from 2018. Since I live in Long Beach, where most of the Griffin footballers hail from, they can easily carpool with me on the 91 Fwy East, exit Brookhurst Street to La Palma Avenue. I will charge only a nominal fee for gas. Bick and I will duel at 40 paces. Or run the steps at Vet Stadium until one of us passes out. We will truly put a "sunset" on their ascendancy. Let the Novena for New Players begin immediately, with a Plenary Indulgence attached. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.... (Sorry, OLu)

Funny stuff Credo.
Here's the thing. All you private schools have no geographic boundaries to draw from, yet you can no longer compete with the top 2 in your league. They've lapped you all and have gotten most ALL the SEC level D1 talent. You really belong in a lower level league you can compete in like the Sunset.
Assuming you would "accept" them, what good to elite athlete would WANT to go to one of the other 4 Trinity schools? Hell, after the butt kicking I saw a week ago, MD / SJB don't even take your games seriously enough to give their best effort.

Assuming you would "accept" them, what good to elite athlete would WANT to go to one of the other 4 Trinity schools? Hell, after the butt kicking I saw a week ago, MD / SJB don't even take your games seriously enough to give their best effort. So last year, with Servite's best team in a decade and our first appearance in the D1 semifinals in the same period, the Friars beat St. John Bosco on the road, 40-21. This year, with Los Al's best team in 15+ years and first appearance in the D1 semifinals in the same period, the Griffins lost to Mater Dei on the road 52-0. This year, our dysfunctional Friars (with maybe one D1 offer) put up 17 points on Mater Dei. The Griffins' 5-star future Trojans, 4-star senior transfer from LB Jordan, 4-star Junior transfer from Georgia, and other assorted SEC-level Long Beach kids got white-washed. You guys kicked our tails this year. And probably could for the next couple of years. But however you stack it up, yes, the Big Two, have no serious competition in the entire state. Not sure how this gets resolved, but it can't go on forever. But seriously, there's nothing wrong with Servite, OLu, SM, and JSerra that can't be fixed with more consistency in coaching. We all have had our ups and downs but have remained relatively on par for 10+ years. Our teams in 2022 look pretty much like our teams of 2012. The rosters of the Big Two, however, bear no resemblance to those of a decade ago. Even with more consistency, though, we won't ever get to the talent level of MD and SJB. That's like asking a guy who's fit and athletic, say 6'2" 200 lbs, to try to bulk up the level of a steroid pumping body builder. Assuming he wanted to or could actually do such a thing, it's not a healthy thing for him in the short or long run. It's the other two who need to "level up" by leaving the league or simply be boycotted by the rest. Their non-league and TL games have become largely meaningless, mere scrimmages for what has become a ONE-GAME season in the D1 title game. Speaking for Servite alone, we don't want these IE and LA County kids who make up the bulk of the starting squads at Bosco and Mater Dei. Those kids simply don't belong in the Trinity League. There are plenty of very good public and private schools in their area that they can attend, while still getting their Power 5 D1 offers. We're not jealous of them; personally, I'd be embarrassed if we had 40 kids with D1 offers, because it would mean that our most important mission had become being a football factory rather than a Catholic school. It would mean lowering academic standards, general discipline, and the creation of an entitled subculture on campus. In short, we would be taking on a D1 college football mentality. We would just like MD and Bosco to return to some semblance of sanity and balance in aligning their athletics with their Catholic mission. Not holding my breath for that to happen, though. p.s. I still say we run the stairs at Vet Stadium--and then I'll buy a pitcher at the Griffin's Grill.

Do most of Los Al's players live in Long Beach? Or is that just an assumption? Some of Long Beach must be in their attendance area. I know of at least one Long Beach neighborhood that is north of Los Al on the east side of the 605 that is in Cypress's attendance area.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk For sure, Damian Henderson, and the freshmen with SEC offers, but don't tell that to Bruce Bible or you'll get called a racist and then blocked on Twitter. The kids who helped boatrace the Sunset League--and a couple of Trinity League teams--ain't from Rossmoor and Seal Beach. The neighborhood you're referring to, El Dorado Estates, might have some kids in the football team--they just never leave the bench.

I'm pretty most of the good teams in the county have athletes outside their attendance area, at least in the north. LA, Cypress, and Western are all pulling from the surrounding areas. Not a lot of kids coming out of Rossmoor and Seal Beach I imagine. Mostly older people that can afford to live there.

p.s. I still say we run the stairs at Vet Stadium--and then I'll buy a pitcher at the Griffin's Grill. How about this... You run the stairs at Vets and I'll put you on the show before week 3 next year... And we'll have SK80 buy us a couple bourbons.

Can't blame O'Shea for stepping down. Tough sledding in the Sunset compared to the PCL.

O'Shea out? Does CDM get better with addition by subtraction? I'll bet the next guy changes the mindset.

After the outstanding class y'all had, O'Shea's narrative was that they couldn't compete with an allstar team (ie Los Al). There was a helluva lot more complaining than I heard from all of the other sunset teams combined. There was more whining than I heard from Los Al when they went up against Bosco and Mater Dei in consecutive years. More complaining than I heard out of JSerra, SM, OLu, or Servite. I don't think the new coach will display this defeated attitude. The days of CDM in the PCL are over. They're a top program in the OC.
