Two quick thoughts:
1. Seems the the South Coast and Sunset Leagues deserve their own threads.
2. You mean there are interesting football schools outside the Trinity League?

Sunset League Prediction
1. Los Al - 13-1-1 since Fenton and Co. arrived on the scene...hasn't lost a league game in 2 years w/ combined score 410-46. Griffins D has been dominant in league. Offense gets you ink - Defense gets you hardware. Offense returns QB and top RB. LY, QB was basically playing on 1 leg, and it affected his fastball and ability to run. Fully healthy this year. OL looks young, but stronger and more physical than last year. Surprising to see a few of the younger players tearing it up at WR. Losing to LaHabra by a score in the Scandrick semis showed them acquitting themselves. Front 7 on D will be stout again - maybe even more stout than LY. Some pretty decent talent on the back end as well led by the SS.
2. Corona Del Mar - 4-0-1 in first year in the Sunset. Might be the highest powered passing offense in the Sunset since the late 90's. Power 5 talent all over the place on that side of the ball. Top end Trinity league caliber in shorts. Not sure about the defense up front. Looked pretty decent in passing league though.
3. Edison - Took a slight step back after Dave White left, but still plays very physical - especially on Defense. Offense seemed to struggle a bit with young QB last year, but with a defense like that, the teams I have above them had best bring their A game v. them.
4. Fountain Valley - Addition by subtraction. Lost their head coach, and their QB, and the whole thing was a circus act. I get the sense they'll play for their new HC Anderson. Just a very uneducated hunch. Haven't seen or heard about anything from them or HB & Newport to speak of. Just seems their coach has a quality about him from the little I've read about him
5. Newport Harbor - They seemed to be young last year, but still played hard throughout. May have been a function of a Brinkley coached team. We'll see if Coach Lofthouse can right the ship. Their pre-league schedule is not challenging at all, so that might give him some time to get some traction that will translate into a win or 2 in league. My bet anyway.
6. Huntington Beach - Some really good guys coaching over there, but not seeing much of anything positive there. Player issues seem to have plagued them, and they graduated a couple really good ones. Not seeing a whole lot of positives from the Oilers this year.

I see the the top 3 of the league a lot closer than one would think,,,,,team A beats team B, that beat team C, that beat team A.....could be a coin flip at the end that determines the outcome.... Edison v Los Al week 6, Edison v CDM week 7.......what week does CDM play Los Al, week 10? NHHS is hoping Edison will be scoreboard watching that week.... 4) NHHS 5) HBHS 6) FVHS

Okay, this is not a prediction, but may be a premonition.
I had a dream last night that I was coaching the Tesoro Football team. It doesn't matter that I have never coached football before or that I would have no interest in doing it, the dream is what the dream is. Anyway, we were in the playoffs and upset a highly favored team. The team wasn't a school name I have ever heard of before, it was something like St Francis of Northern Cerritos or something. So we win, however we don't advance because there were an odd number of teams in our bracket and they had to leave one winner out. Instead, La Habra got to advance and play in the next game.
All of my players were upset, so I tried to console them by telling them that only a few teams get to end their season with a playoff win. It kind of worked, but then I woke up.

South Coast League Prediction: 1. Mission Viejo- I guess not winning the league title in year one has motivated CJ to become the #1 recruiter in all of the West Coast. This team is stacked and loaded, anything less than a league championship would be a complete shock and embarrassment. Flip a coin with CDM and they are most talented public school in OC. Probably close to 15 D1 players on their team when it's all said and done. 2. Tesoro- As always, they will be well-coached and they have a solid group of skill players with a couple of good decision makers at QB. I saw them at a lineman and passing tourney competition over the summer and they competed well-expect them to try to pound the ball at times behind these big hogs, especially Justin Williams. Justin Schafer is a serious weapon for them wherever he is lined up at. 3. San Clemente- Not sure who will replace Costello but the legacy of QBs they have had in the past, I'm sure whoever it is, will be just fine. RB James Bohls (21') success will be determined by the OL where they don't return one starter. Expect big things from Preston Rex (BYU) on both sides of the ball this year. 4. El Toro- Have a solid group of sophomore and juniors who return this year, however will they be ready? Good news is that they have some experience, bad news is that they are still in the South Coast League. 5. Capistrano Valley- New HC Sean Curtis should have these boys fired up and ready to play. As crazy as it sounds with a team that has gone at least to the Semi-Finals for three straight years, there are no expectations for this team. Graduated the best senior class in school history...they'll be glad to go back to the Sea View League next year.
Sea View League Prediction: 1. San Juan Hills-Joey Hobert show.....they should be in SCL.

Hard to disagree with any of this. Haven't seen much from El Toro lately, and SJ Hills seems to be on the rise.
