Edison v San Clemente should be a real good one this week. Edison surprised last week v SJ Hills, and San Clemente has been rolling out the gate v the top schools in San Diego.
I like SC in this one by one score.

Question for public school fans:
I was tasked with doing a little research for a local journalist over the weekend, and I came upon some startling facts.
Over the last 12 years, La Habra is 58-1 in Freeway League play, losing only to Buena Park three years ago. Over the last ten years, Mission Viejo is 40-1 in South Coast League play, and 82-3-1 over the last 19 years.
We talk a lot about competitive equity in the Southern Section's 13 divisions, but nobody ever mentions the lack of equity in some of our leagues. Why are La Habra and Mission Viejo still allowed in their respective leagues after such long periods of being virtually unbeatable?

Here else would those two go? Since the public leagues are based on a combination of geography and ability, they seem as well placed as they could be.

Maybe the FREEWAY like the PACIFIC COAST (CDM) will politely ask LH to leave! Of course yet again BP got good the year CDM looked to go all the way..... seems there is always one sort team like that. Where is BP now? Ha!

Some people (including some here) have called for schools like St. John Bosco and Mater Dei to be placed into some kind of national super league, ignoring that the travel costs would bankrupt both schools. It seems much more reasonable to make a public school super league in Southern California where travel wouldn't require airfare and hotel rooms for a hundred people.

I, for one, have stated that a national super league is a totally unrealistic idea that will never happen. But for a little perspective on where the top two ranked public schools in California (Corona Centennial and Mission Viejo) stand vis-a-vis the top ranked private school (Mater Dei), the Monarchs have won the last four matchups against those two teams by the following scores:
42-12 48-14 56-17 49-21

When I suggested that national league, it was with the caveat that it be sponsored, given what I expect to be a great deal of national interest. Fact is, you're already playing a predominantly national preleague schedule. At some point, you've got to expect the bottom half of the Trinity to decide it no longer is a fit for then to continue to play for 3rd place, right? So why not get ahead of it?

Maybe the caveat is IF the lower half of the Trinity becomes the OTHER part of the SUPER league. Presently they occupy the best league in the nation however they are no match at present for the upper half. Or what IF they north part of this state starts playing quality ball!

Another thought was to have the top 8 teams in the country play in a national championship tournament instead of their sectional or state championships.
That might kill 2 birds with one stone

The National HSFB is impractical and will never be implemented. What is unfortunate about Bosco and MD deciding to become football factories is that one of the most important aspects of HSFB--the rivalries and anticipation that almost every team in the league could win any game--has been obliterated.
They will come back to field eventually. What goes up, must come down.
People seem to forget that Alabama was a joke for about two decades before Nick Saban came to Tuscaloosa; same with his time at LSU. Ohio State was a one-great has-been before Jim Tressel. The Patriots were mostly forgettable pre-Belicheck. And teams that used to dominate their sports (USC, S.F. 49ers, Lakers, Georgetown) have then had periods where they could barely get out of their own way.
p.s. Hey, this post gained me a new title at 1,500 posts! Very euro-chic. I feel like I should be wearing a smoking jacket in a dark wood-paneled men's club in London, Paris, or Vienna.

That's exactly my point. Why haven't "the bottom half" of the Freeway or South Coast Leagues done the same thing? Nobody in the Trinity League (or the Serra League or the Angelus League for that) has exhibited the kind of prolonged dominance as La Habra and Mission Viejo. Yet it's the Trinity League where all the revolution is fomenting, while those other leagues quietly acquiesce to getting their asses kicked by the same undefeated league champion for almost an entire generation.
