Mission Viejo is thin at QB right now. Costelli did not play in scrimmage last night against CC. He was injured in a car accident and will miss a few weeks. No backups to turn to since both transferred out after losing the starting job. Ordinarily, that's a big loss, but losing the first 2-3 games will likely keep them out of the top 8 when playoffs roll around. |

MV should be fine with the freshman against the weak Hawaii team they play this week. They hope to have Costelli back at least in a limited role for the SM game. Unlikely that MV will be in the D2 playoffs. I could be wrong but I don't see anyone on their schedule beating them. I expect them to be in the D1 playoffs matching up against MD or Bosco in the second round.

Another MD blow out on tap for tonight....MV will have a tough game against the Highlanders... I don’t think it will be a blow out. Last year’s game was an anomaly with four pick 6s. I still think MD wins but after watching the Matt Logan-coached Centennial teams for the past 15+ years I expect nothing but a good game tonight. MD should have a great defense but I also expect Centennial to make them look bad at times. That is what they do! Any win over Centennial is a great win no matter the margin. |
