South Coast League Prediction:
1. Mission Viejo- I guess not winning the league title in year one has motivated CJ to become the #1 recruiter in all of the West Coast. This team is stacked and loaded, anything less than a league championship would be a complete shock and embarrassment. Flip a coin with CDM and they are most talented public school in OC. Probably close to 15 D1 players on their team when it's all said and done. 2. Tesoro- As always, they will be well-coached and they have a solid group of skill players with a couple of good decision makers at QB. I saw them at a lineman and passing tourney competition over the summer and they competed well-expect them to try to pound the ball at times behind these big hogs, especially Justin Williams. Justin Schafer is a serious weapon for them wherever he is lined up at. 3. San Clemente- Not sure who will replace Costello but the legacy of QBs they have had in the past, I'm sure whoever it is, will be just fine. RB James Bohls (21') success will be determined by the OL where they don't return one starter. Expect big things from Preston Rex (BYU) on both sides of the ball this year. 4. El Toro- Have a solid group of sophomore and juniors who return this year, however will they be ready? Good news is that they have some experience, bad news is that they are still in the South Coast League. 5. Capistrano Valley- New HC Sean Curtis should have these boys fired up and ready to play. As crazy as it sounds with a team that has gone at least to the Semi-Finals for three straight years, there are no expectations for this team. Graduated the best senior class in school history...they'll be glad to go back to the Sea View League next year. Sea View League Prediction:
1. San Juan Hills-Joey Hobert show.....they should be in SCL. Very interesting and informative! Welcome Notadam.

Jonathan Khamis back on the trail highlights Maui bound Edison Do you guys that the schools have to pay $$$ to be featured on the Camp Chronicles. I guess when your a freelance reporter you have to make $$ some how, but its a shame some schools who would hardly be featured have to pay to get highlighted. Its why you won't see a lot Trinity League schools being featured, they don't need the exposure at an extra expense.

Yes, there's a fee. You'd have to check with Edison to see what it was.

CDM's Ethan Garbers will leave school early for University of Washington with plans to graduate early after football season ends.
CDM’s Ethan Garbers among country’s best By RICHARD DUNN ~ Orange County Register www.ocregister.com/2019/08/01/cdms-ethan-garbers-among-countrys-best/Corona del Mar quarterback Ethan Garbers throws a pass under pressure against Yorba Linda in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 4 football playoffs at Newport Harbor High. Newport Beach on Friday, November 9, 2018. (Sam Gangwer, Contributing Photographer)There’s a chance, a year from now, that Corona del Mar High quarterback Ethan Garbers will be facing his older brother, Chase, on the football field in the Pac-12 Conference opener at Cal Memorial Stadium in Berkeley in Week 4, when Washington visits Cal.
While Ethan Garbers still has his senior year to play for the Sea Kings, the Washington commit is hopeful of jumping aboard the fast track to a starting role for the Huskies in 2020.
CdM Coach Dan O’Shea said there’s a “good friendship” in the sibling rivalry between Ethan and Cal quarterback Chase Garbers, a celebrated QB for three years at Corona del Mar (2014-16) before starting for the Golden Bears in the Pac-12.
A former CdM ball boy, Ethan Garbers is planning to graduate from high school in December and enroll at Washington in January.
“I’m going to go in there and compete and try to be the starter – that’s my goal,” Garbers said. “If it doesn’t work out, I’m there for the long run, for four or five years. I’m going to make the most of it.”
According to the website West Coast Recruits, Washington is leading the Pac-12 in early commitments from the class of 2020 with 20 highly rated recruits, followed by Oregon (18), Stanford (13) and USC (nine).
CdM senior tight end Mark Redman has also committed to Washington, while Sea Kings wide receiver/strong safety John Humphreys is committed to Stanford. But it will be more than the Big Three this season for the Sea Kings, who return 10 starters on offense and six on defense.
“We have three other offensive players for sure, and some defensive guys, who will get offers (from colleges) – like (wide receivers) Bradley Schlom and Simon Hall,” said Garbers, who had 12 scholarship offers before selecting Washington.
Junior offensive lineman Thomas Bouda is also expected to be recruited by major colleges, while much is anticipated this year from CdM defensive players Cole Rener, Jack Rottler and Chase Zanck.
Garbers added that the Sea Kings “are trying to win the state championship – we’re trying to go 16-0.”
The 2013 Sea Kings went 16-0 when Chase Garbers was a freshman at CdM, which has played in five CIF championship games in eight years. But O’Shea is most proud of his players’ work in the classroom.
“Academically we’ve been in the top three in CIF (Southern Section) the last eight years – that’s 417 schools,” O’Shea said. “We had the second-highest GPA at 3.42.”

That said another great acknowledgment goes out to Ethan's partner in crime and fellow Huskie..... CDM TE Mark Redman making preseason MAXPREPS FIRST TEAM ALL STATE OFFENSE. Sunset League joining the Media Day crush with its own this Wednesday. Edison won't be there as they're vacationing in Maui.
I think next year, that should be the venue for the Sunset Media Day. I'd invite you SK80, but we drink Mai Tais in the islands. You haoles have to leave the whiskey at home.

Mission Viejo is thin at QB right now. Costelli did not play in scrimmage last night against CC. He was injured in a car accident and will miss a few weeks. No backups to turn to since both transferred out after losing the starting job.
