I think the periodic league realignment process has been replaced in part by the annual divisional realignment / expansion.
Just seems you'd support a change to something more competitive than games whose only doubt is at what point the clock runs.

As Sunset League play gets rolling this week, I thought I'd offer up where I think we'll end up when the dust settles on 11/1
1. CDM - the clear favorite, and on a roll. We should call them butter. They should beat both Ed & LA by 4 TDs. Too much firepower. 2. Ed - A clear notch below, but a very solid team on both sides of the ball 3. LA - A notch below Ed. Championship level defense, but not much that resembles competent offense or special teams play at this point. 4. NH - Right there with LA after a 5-0 pre-league slate. Could very well knock off LA and claim an automatic playoff berth. we'll know in 3 weeks 5. FV - 3 wins v. very weak teams, and 2 L's v. moderately decent ones to start the year under new HC. 6. HB - Lost to Marina by 3 TD's, and were shut out by Western. Might be the end of the road for the current coaching staff.

Your assessment of how the dust should settle is spot on, no need to get out the duster just yet however, I'm a firm believer you still gotta play the games. So Bick, don't go getting your duster just yet. Now can you confirm the food analogy "butter" on a "roll"!

If true, (as it seems), that there is such a huge gap between Los Al and CDM, I feel even more cheated, that the two teams didn't meet last season, when it would have been anybody's game.

So you really believe CDM is THAT much better now or Los Al is that much worse...? Reminder and as unfortunate as the game not played was for fans, the only "W's" against CDM last year were by JS and Grace two privates. No disrespect but LA last year was not on par with either of those two teams. But I agree with we all feel a bit cheated. Would have been a good contest, one that seems to be getting harder and harder to find. Is it me or the football pool alone is blaring how many mismatches are going on every week on the high school grid irons....

Probably a bit of both...CDM up from last year and Los Al Down from last year. Disagree about last year...I think Los Al would have taken that one.

With the Sunset League about to enter its 83rd season, and with fans of some of the league's teams on this forum, I thought it might be interesting to look at some of the league records (1937-2018)
Most Years In League 71 - Huntington Beach 54 - Marina 54 - Newport Harbor 45 - Edison 45 - Fountain Valley
Most League Championships 20 - Anaheim 20 - Edison 13 - Los Alamitos 9 - Fountain Valley 9 - Santa Ana
Most League Wins 169 - Edison 167 - Anaheim 148 - Newport Harbor 124 - Fountain Valley 118 - Santa Ana
Highest League Winning Percentage (minimum 100 games) .756 - Anaheim .719 - Edison .712 - Los Alamitos .581 - Fullerton .554 - Santa Ana
And not too many people know that the following teams were also in the Sunset League at some time: Excelsior, Orange, Long Beach Jordan, Downey, Garden Grove, La Habra, Costa Mesa, Rancho Alamitos, Loara, Ocean View and Servite.

Just make sure you credit Anaheim as the true "flagship of the Sunset League".

LA needs to worry about NH,,,not likely but plausible.... I’ll leave this here,,,, www.hudl.com/video/2/3680/5d9a36266e81920cb8731d05

If Los Al continues spotting opponents 3 TDs each game, you're right. Won't beat anyone that way.

LA D is solid,,,,,surprised about Run D though,,,,,will give CDM problems
Edison made its money on special teams,,,,, 2 turnovers,,,,,, came on kick offs,,,, thought more likely KOR,,, LA never kicked from the clock....
And vs LA O,,,,,, 2 turnovers
